    Reflection Part II: Resentment, Anxiety-mindsets, Inflection Points, and Becoming

    Last episode of this season!! Mitou and I use this episode to dive deeper into boundaries and resentment and how they show up in our lives.     Reflection Part I: Uncertainty, Boundaries, Brokenness, and PTSD

    This episode is a bit different than the others in that Mitou Nguyen and I interview each other as we reflect on this past year. We start the conversation with how we started this year 2022. Mitou shares his journey with uncertainty and the stress/anxiety that prefaces big life milestones like buying a home and wedding. I share my most vulnerable moments of this year and the feeling of brokenness and hitting rock bottom.  Trigger warning: I do share my lowest of moments including when I was diagnosed with PTSD and the experience that follows.  I really enjoyed this podcast because of how we pursued the objective truth with where we were at the beginning of year and the growth we've seen since.

    Allie N. and I dive into the journey from dating to getting married. We talk about how and when she knew her husband, Jared was the one and what it's taken them to have the strong partnership that they have. Especially with her husband as a surgical resident physician (with long and inflexible hours), we talk about tactics for a healthy relationship.  I really appreciate this conversation because we talk about false narratives that show up in our lives and the impact it has made. We talk about anger, resentment, and sadness but also the joy and gratitude we feel towards our partners that show up for us.

    Emotional work as a mom

    Ara Mae is a mother of four beautiful kids: Aila, Maurice aka Bro bro, Ami, and Aki. If there is one word to describer her life, it's full. Ara Mae shares what it's like leading the family with her husband and the constant pursuit of good moments and good feelings. She shares some tactics around quieting her mind and listening, resting, and learning each day to make the next better. My biggest takeaways from this conversation is the importance of reflection, communication, and connection with your children and the endless pursuit to be present.     Joshua Lee is none other than my baby brother. Josh was always the highest of achievers from his science competitions to his dance competitions. When he graduated from Harvard with a computer science degree, we all thought he was set for a stable career until he decided to pursue acting and entertainment.     Raquel H. and I grew up together since we were in third grade. We both clung onto Christianity as a core part of our identity. As we gotten older, we talk about the shift from a black and white mentality to seeing the nuances and humanness. We talk about the crucial role church has played by being a source of healing and shelter but also its role in perpetuating toxic messages like elitism, patriarchy, and fear-driven guilt and shame.
