    Building in existing contexts - Guest: Sophia Schmidt

    Since RoofKIT focuses on sustainability, we want to talk about building in an existing context with our guest Sophia Schmidt from LRO. Besides the work as an architect, she also teaches as a research assistant at the KIT in Karlsruhe. Sophia has a lot of experience in the field of dealing with existing structures and will give us a deeper insight into her work and also the work of LRO.

    Innovative Materials - Guest: Rasa Weber

    Rasa Weber is a designer and founder based in Berlin. Her design concepts are driven by a strong narrative approach and innovative material research. In her works she creates a link between the creative industries, research and art. She works in the field of interior design, product design and film. She also lectures at the University of the Arts Berlin, University Anhalt Dessau, OCAD University Toronto and University of Leeds.

    Future Cities - Guest: Angelika Hinterbrandner

    In our fourth episode of "Fighting 40%" we talk about the future of cities from the aspects of politics, density, mobility and participation. What should be the goals for young architects in the future? It's time to question "non-negotiable truths" in architecture and to fundamentally rethink the practice. Our guest Angelika Hinterbrandner works as a freelance editor, project manager and digital strategist—mainly but not exclusively—in the field of architecture. Her works deal with the influence of the economy, digitalization and politics on space. She studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, gained experience as an architect while working for MVRDV, Buchner Bründler Architekten or Brandlhuber+ and is part of Kontextur, a digital magazine spinning around architecture.     Welcome to the third episode of Fighting 40%. In our last episode, we talked to our guest Dirk Hebel about the topic of Urban Mining and about sustainable thinking in the construction industry. In this episode we want to deepen this topic with our new guest Professor Petra Riegler-Floors. Ms. Riegler-Floors is a professor for construction and resource management in architecture at the Trier University of Applied Sciences since 2020. She also works as a freelance writer and independent architect. Her publications include the Manual of Recycling which is very popular among architects and architecture students.

    Since the post-war period, we have been surrounded by an anthropogenic  warehouse of over 50 billion tons of material. This warehouse grows  every year by another 10 tons per inhabitant. In the first episode we want to introduce  ourselves, explain the origin of „Fighting 40%“ and give you a short  impression of what RoofKIT is actually doing.
