10 Things You Should Experience on Saipan

Saipan wasn't a trip I originally planned—and somehow I came home with a list of places and experiences I couldn't stop talking about. So after sharing the story of why I was in Saipan in the first place, this episode is about what I experienced while I was there. I'm sharing 10 things I'd tell you to experience in Saipan—from swimming in the unbelievably blue water of the Blue Grotto and hunting for sea glass at Pak Pak Beach to incredible overlooks, coastal caves, local food, flame trees, sunsets, and a few places I never would have known to look for before spending time on the island. Some are the places you'll find when you start researching Saipan. Others are the tiny moments and local finds that ended up becoming some of my favorite memories. This isn't a ranked “top 10,” and it definitely isn't everything there is to do. It's 10 experiences that made me understand and appreciate Saipan a little more—and that I'd put on my own list if I were planning a trip back. 🎙️ Podcast Instagram: @FinalBoardingCallOOO — episode clips, travel truths, cruise opinions & practical travel tips 🌴 Melissa on Instagram: @abeautybutafunnygirlthatmel — travel adventures, practical tips, under-the-radar finds & general travel chaos 🧢 Out of Office Outfitters on Instagram: @outofofficeoutfittersshop — new drops, travel humor & beautiful things for slightly unhinged travelers 💻 Shop Out of Office Outfitters: outofofficeoutfitters.com — travel-inspired hats, apparel, accessories & gifts for people who take the trip seriously but themselves significantly less so.

I Went to Saipan With Child Life Disaster Relief — Here’s What That Actually Means

This trip was a little different. I recently spent two weeks in Saipan deploying with Child Life Disaster Relief (CLDR) following Typhoon Sinalaku—not as a tourist, but as part of a team providing play-based support for children and families after a disaster. In this episode of Final Boarding Call: Flight OOO, I’m taking you behind the scenes of what a CLDR deployment actually looks like: why I went, what our role was, what play has to do with disaster recovery, what daily life on deployment looked like, and some of the moments that stayed with me after coming home. I’m also talking about Saipan itself—the place beyond the deployment. The people, the history, the landscapes, the food, the moments of beauty in between the work, and what it was like getting to know a destination under circumstances very different from the way I normally travel. This isn’t a disaster tourism story. It’s a story about service, children, community, travel with a completely different purpose—and a tiny island in the Pacific that I won’t soon forget. 💛 Learn more about Child Life Disaster Relief: Visit cldisasterrelief.org to learn more about CLDR’s work supporting children and families impacted by disasters and crises, access free downloadable resources for helping children cope after difficult events, learn about becoming a disaster responder, or make a donation to help support future deployments.

Disney Cruise Line vs. Virgin Voyages: Which Cruise Is Right for You?

Disney Cruise Line or Virgin Voyages? On the surface, they couldn't seem more different: one is built around Disney storytelling and family experiences, while the other is adults-only and designed to completely rethink the traditional cruise experience. But after sailing both, we think the comparison is a lot more interesting than “kids vs. no kids.” In this episode of Final Boarding Call: Flight OOO, Greg is back to help me break down Disney Cruise Line vs. Virgin Voyages based on what actually matters once you're onboard. We're talking food, entertainment, service, drinks and nightlife, adult spaces, relaxation, planning, private destinations, overall atmosphere—and the things each cruise line genuinely does better. We’ll also talk about where our opinions differ, what surprised us after experiencing both, and the type of traveler we think will be happiest on each. Because this isn't really about deciding which cruise line is better. It's about figuring out which cruise line is better for you. 🎙️ Podcast Instagram: @FinalBoardingCallOOO — episode clips, travel truths, cruise opinions & tips 🌴 Melissa on Instagram: @abeautybutafunnygirlthatmel — travel adventures, practical tips, under-the-radar finds & general travel chaos 🧢 Out of Office Outfitters on Instagram: @outofofficeoutfittersshop — new drops, travel humor & beautiful things for slightly unhinged travelers 💻 Shop Out of Office Outfitters: outofofficeoutfitters.com — travel-inspired hats, apparel, accessories & gifts for people who take the trip seriously but themselves significantly less so.
