Dr. Simon, who is also a nurse practitioner spent 5-months working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic when the world went into lockdown. For her, it was an isolating experience living in a hotel room separated from her life while working intensively on the frontlines.  This experience prompted her to ask many questions, the most significant of which is “how do we as people and a planet not get stuck in the conversation, that before the pandemic I was capable of x, y, and z”.  Dr. Simon is a strong proponent of the mind-set that if we can build our own resilience, we can fearless. As a result, she has created Finding Your Holy Grail to help lead this forward journey in a post-pandemic world.

The importance of our Belief System-now more than ever

Finding Your Holy Grail helps people navigate the post-pandemic reality we now find ourselves in.

As we head into the beginning of 2021, the show takes a deep dive into key themes on living fearlessly in the post-pandemic world. Throughout January, the spotlight’s on our ability to set and achieve goals in uncertain times; and we explore the roles of fear, resilience, beliefs, and blind-spots in this process.
Belief systems exert a powerful influence over how we respond to any given situation or circumstance. They are passed on to us at very young ages and help us to form the identities of who we perceive we are, and how we develop into the individuals we seek to become.

Belief systems are greatly influenced by culture, religion, language, and the choices we make about how we fit into society. They define the extent of the opportunities and options that we think are available to us as we plan ahead. This is why it’s important to understand belief systems when it comes to setting goals we can actually achieve.

Over the last 10 weeks, the show’s host, Dr. Mandy Simon has interviewed experts, supporting the audience to build skills for resilience to live fearless in an uncertain world. As we head into the beginning of 2021, the show takes a deep dive into key themes that have emerged as priorities to the audience.
In this episode, Dr. Mandy Simon explores The Need for Boundaries. She is joined by Dr. Gordon MacMillan, the show’s co-creator. It’s an important topic - creating and enforcing our boundaries with others actually permits us to develop deeper relationships in our lives.
We all have the need to be heard and to be treated with respect. And in turn, this is how we should be treating others. To do this, we must put ourselves first. And therein lays the challenge. Above all, we must find our voices and stand our ground. This is a deep and fundamental part of who we all are.
The show’s co-creators explore boundaries that are tangible and intangible - the unseen, energetic, boundaries that can empower us or deplete us in profound ways. In the words of Brené Brown: “Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.”

    Our Need For Safety

    Our Need For Safety

Finding Your Holy Grail helps people navigate the post-pandemic reality we now find ourselves in.
Mandy Simon explores Our Need For Safety. She is joined by Dr. Gordon MacMillan, the show’s co-creator. It’s an important topic – When we feel safe, we can logically function outside of overwhelming and feeling out of control.
The conversation is framed by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This is the theory that all humans before they can be productive members of society require the basic needs of food, shelter, and water prior to being able to consider our more advanced human process of dreaming and creating, and even goal setting.
For many in the audience, the physiological needs of food, water, shelter are still being met. Even so, we don't feel safe. There's something about wearing a facemask, staying inside, not interacting with other people, which makes us feel isolated and inhuman. This erodes the quality of our social interactions and can have a detrimental impact on our bonds of affection.
This show relates what so many of us are feeling each day, and how we explore recognizing all we have lost control of during these times. How can we hope to dream and set goals and realize the important and amazing people and lives we were living and planning when the pandemic emerged? To thrive and not just survive the show’s hosts encourage the audience to explore three
fundamental aspects where the Need for Safety is interrupting their ability to feel deeply connected to themselves and others.
