#23 - Patrick Stäuble (Teylor) - From SME financing to Lending as a Service

Lending is one of the major pain points in finance, both from the perspective of lenders and borrowers. I have been following Teylor for a while, and it was high time for me to have a discussion with its CEO, Patrick.

Starting as a solution to lending SMEs in Germany, Teylor cleverly diversified by developing a lending-as-a-service solution and a feature-rich SaaS platform for banks.

Taylor aims to support SMEs while helping financial institutions streamline their lending operations. We also talked with Patrick about the financing aspect and the reasons that led this Switzerland-based startup to structure itself around a securitization vehicle in Luxembourg, enabling various types of lenders to participate in the financing process: junior, senior, and mezzanine tranches.

This approach has allowed them to handle substantial volumes and rapidly expand their business. It is an episode I thoroughly enjoy, combining technicality and European structuring.

#22 - Nan Ransohoff (Stripe) - Pioneering carbon removal with Frontier

It's been a long time since I had in mind to have Stripe on Finscale, but I wanted to cover a topic you wouldn't expect. We are indeed going to talk about carbon removal. To talk about this, I have Nan, who is the Head of Climate at Stripe and also the Head of Frontier.

You are about to discover a woman truly dedicated to her mission. She tells us how Stripe has launched Frontier, aiming to purchase hundreds of millions of dollars in carbon removal between now and 2030.

Together, we can go further. This is Nan's battle cry. We discuss how Frontier aims to address the challenges faced by the traditional offset market and improve measurement and verification methods for carbon removal.

We delve into the concepts of pre-purchases and off-take agreements and understand the philosophy behind this initiative that is gathering more and more actors around it.
