I’m a self proclaimed podcast addict. My tastes vary and are as eclectic as you can imagine; however, my first ever “schmod” was Snap— leaving me to find out that story telling scratches some prehistoric itch I never knew I had. Needless to say Anna’s voice and gentle prodding has lured my mind down many strange and lovely paths BUT I have NEVER felt so honored to have been granted a seat on a transparent pathway —through the trauma and love and light that culminated into another’s life with such imperfect beauty. Thank you to everyone who made this multidimensional redemption story possible. I can only hope it lives on in the ears, minds , and mouths of many men, women, and children for years to come.. i personally believe that we are ALL flawed and that we will all be “punished” eventually in our own specific ways—I hope I will handle mine with half of the dignity shown by Amika.

This….. thank you for this. Really a beautiful story about life, death, incarceration, freedom and redemption. I loved every second of it and I wish there was more. I recommend this to the fullest possible extent!

I loved this and this is soooo good

Orange is the new black may have opened the curtain on the industrial prison system - but Fire escape is brave, emotional and vulnerable pod that delves deep into the lives of incarcerated women who risk their lives fighting wildfires in CA and currently LA. It’s all here - power dynamics, socioeconomic and privilege, climate resistance all through the lens of racial inequity and our broken justice system. Fire Escape is an urgent call to recognize our shared humanity - these women Amika and KD are my heroes, they not only battle literal flames to keep us from harms way but also the demons of their past, sacrificing their well being while serving their country.
