    Adam and Jordan have reached episode five of First Time for Everything! (0:25) This week, they’re joined by guest Poppy Hillstead. (2:25) Adam kicks off the interview with Poppy discussing the first time they got drunk and explaining how the cultural differences might impact their stories. (4:25) Turns out Poppy’s first time getting drunk involved The Matrix on DVD, (6:52) and that Jordan’s experience was, indeed, VERY different. (11:15) Poppy also shares an experience on a ferry headed to Amsterdam, (12:48) before Adam chimes in with how his first time corresponds to when his parents started going away leaving him home alone. (14:20) Poppy also regales us with the story of the most “hellish house party” she attended. (16:18) Adam has a realization that neighbors hate house parties, (24:17) before asking Jordan if American university experiences are just like the films. (3:50) She discusses hosting and how she refills her well to create a safe space for her guests to be vulnerable. (6:21) Happenstance played a role in how Sangeeta ended up starting her podcast, (8:45) and the role that the Spotify Sound Up competition played in her journey. (11:24) But once she won the competition, how much help did Sangeeta really have to launch Masala Podcast? (17:31) It took Sangeeta a year after the competition to get Masala Podcast launched, and she explains that making something that was important to her and that she could be proud of was key. (19:57) Sangeeta discusses the imposter syndrome she had to navigate when she launched the podcast. (22:15) Her relationship with her audience has been beautiful, and it’s what keeps her going. (2:40) Rich spoke this week about the first time he was on a plane. (4:16) Adam and Rich contemplate if anything else quite combines the particular exhileration and horror that we get from flying (8:55) before Jordan explains how she copes with her flying anxiety. (11:20) Rich pontificates on landing and how no one explains the sensation of hitting the ground, (14:08) and how no matter how many times someone explains how flight works, we never really understand it. (18:15) Rich also shares stories of doing gigs abroad and being on military planes. (20:45) Adam talks about bringing his baby daughter on a plane (26:15) Okay, but how fast are your particles flying when you’re on a plane? (30:15) And then things get really weird and the three start talking about cannibalism and crashing into mountains. (0:25) They reflect on last week’s episode with Scroobius Pip (1:10) before introducing their guest this week, Jamie Coletta who talks about the first time she started her own business. (2:30) The interview starts off with an introduction to when Jamie got into the music business and a trip down emo-music memory lane. (3:10) Jamie then explains how she ended up striking out on her own (11:22) and then her and Adam wax poetic about office supplies and furniture. (16:25) Adam then questions whether Jamie ever wanted to hire other people and work collaboratively, or if she wanted to be a one-person show. (22:36) Jordan asks a very convoluted question about how Jamie’s perspective might have changed on remote work from being a parent. (27:30) As a parent himself, Adam asks Jamie how she switches off from work (31:00) Jordan gets super stoked on the bands Jamie works with and they recommend music to Adam. (36:10) Adam recommends that people starting a new business consider doing it with a group, and Jamie counters that if that doesn’t feel right to consider having some people you can still ask for help.
