Tolerance and Attachment (How Do We Change and Grow part 2)
In this episode, Brandon, Linda and Rob finish their conversation on the topic of how we change and grow.
The first part of the episode explores the current cultural trend toward tolerance and what we’re calling radical acceptance - this idea that no one should have to change anything about themselves if they don’t want to and, more than that, the act of asking someone to change is now considered an affront - real love would just accept people however they are.
In the second half of the episode, we turn a corner in this conversation to begin to see how the way we’ve been designed (think neuroscience and the psychology of attachment) shape our approach to change and growth. We also explore how each of the previous approaches - knowledge, action and power - come together as aspects of change and growth that emerge from our attachment to God as his dearly loved children.

How Do We Change and Grow?
How do we change and grow? Seems like a pretty straightforward question…until you dig a little deeper. This is the first of a two-part episode that explores the various ways this question has been answered by secular philosophers as well as how the church has incorporated these ways of thinking into the approaches it uses to help people change and grow. This episode explores three paradigms -
The first is: “Information = Transformation” and it poses the question - does transformation happen as I accumulate correct knowledge?
The second is: “Do the Right Thing” which seeks to determine if transformation happens as we accumulate longer and longer strings of good deeds.
The third is: “Power to the People” which asserts that the ability to change and grow is tied to having the power in a given situation.
Episode two will look at our current cultural reality and then propose a Biblical perspective for change and growth that involves knowing, doing and power under the umbrella of attachment to God.
Join your hosts Brandon Bathauer and Linda Tokar and their special guest, Rob Jacobs as we seek to really understand how we change and grow.

The Three Stories of Work
In this episode, we are talking about work. We all work - it’s what consumes the best waking hours of our days for nearly the entirety of our lives. No matter who you are or where you live, whether you gain income from it or not - work is a reality for all of us.
Recently, as a result of the "Great Resignation" and the "Great Reconsideration", along with record inflation and job insecurity, we're all asking questions about what we're doing for work and why we're doing it.
So, how do we view the work that put our hands to day in and day out?
Join your hosts Linda Tokar and Brandon Bathauer as they explore three stories about work...The Incomplete Story, The Misguided Story, and The Often Untold Story. We will dig into how these stories, these narratives, dramatically shape our work, and ultimately, our lives, seeking to find God's Grand Story amidst it all.

Freedom - What is it Good For?
In the world we live—America particularly—freedom brings up lots of emotions, questions, thoughts, and concerns. “Give me liberty or give me death” stirs up the hearts of all of us. William Wallace crying out “Freedom” at the end of Braveheart will always give us the chills. Why? Why does freedom matter to us, and how should we engage and live with the freedom around us?
Whether topics of freedom of speech, abortion, the legislation of drugs or weapon ownership, we are bombarded daily with questions of freedom. What freedoms should we have as a society, and more, what should we do with the freedoms we currently have? Join us as we talk through what would Jesus say as he stands amidst this noise and says, “whom the son sets free is free indeed”.
Join your hosts, Linda Tokar and Brandon Bathauer, as they discuss different views about freedom, and the ramifications of buying into these views.
