    Christmas Eve 2025

    On this holy night, we turn to the opening words of John’s Gospel. Before the manger, before the angels, before the shepherds—there was the Word. In Jesus Christ, the eternal Word becomes flesh and dwells among us, bringing light that darkness cannot overcome. This Christmas Eve reflection invites us to receive the nearness of God with wonder, trust, and hope. His decision to take Mary as his wife embodies courageous love. He chooses mercy over social expectation. He names the child Jesus, embracing a calling bigger than himself. Advent invites us into this same courageous, costly love that protects, nurtures, and believes God’s surprising promises.
