    Sindhutai Sapkal - Mother of Orphans

    Sindhutai Sapkal famously known as Mai is an Indian social worker and social activist known particularly for her work in raising orphan children in India. She has been honoured with over 750 awards for her dedication and work. She is also now Padma Shri Award Recipient. Her journey gives very strong and powerful message to not give up. From begging to becoming mother of thousand of orphans she could finally make their dreams come true. Today she runs four home for orphans and others in need across India's state of Maharashtra. The marathi film "Mee Sindhutai Sapkal" by Anant Mahadevan is a biopic inspired by true story of Sindhutai Sapkal. The film was also selected for the world premiere at the 54th London Film Festival. He is also very known lyricist and Author and one such known book The Making of Ladli Laxmi Yojna which later was taken in action by Government of Madhya Pradesh planned by Mr. P Narahari. This scheme inspired many different states who gave there own names and one such is Beti Bachao , Beti Padhao Yojana. He is among the rare professional officers to be credited as Publicity Advisor to three successive Government of different parties. His work to make Gwalior Disable Friendly is also mentioned in the show Satyamev Jayate by Aamir Khan. In his more than 20 years of service he ensure to work for people always and have become a very influential and inspiring IAS Officer
