From Hostage Negotiator to Cancer Warrior with Terry Tucker
Before he was a cancer survivor, author Terry Tucker wore a lot of hats. He was an NCAA Division I college basketball player, a Citadel cadet, a marketing executive, a hospital administrator, and a SWAT Team Hostage Negotiator, that all changed when a callous on the bottom of his foot was diagnosed as rare cancer.
Now as Terry fights for his life, he uses the lessons learned to motivate others through his blog, book, and inspiring talks.
In this episode we discuss:
- How being a SWAT negotiator prepared Terry for hard conversations when facing incurable cancer.
- How he gets through the tough days as a cancer warrior.
- How Terry wrote a book in the three-month break between cancer treatments.
- How a small callous on the bottom of his foot has lead to the amputation of his left leg.
Terry and his wife have lived all over the United States and currently reside in Colorado. In 2019, Terry started the website, Motivational Check to help others find and lead their uncommon and extraordinary lives.
Terry’s book, Sustainable Excellence: Ten Principles to Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life, offers ten principles outlined in the book that will provide the bedrock necessary to form the foundation of unshakable beliefs and dedicated behaviors to reinforce your attitude, no matter how much pain you must endure or how many obstacles you must overcome.
