    FMR #022: "Ask a Comedian" (feat. Deon Curry @brightfame4)

    OKAY! Here is an instant classic right here! I mustered up a lil courage and asked a real comedian to appear on the show (made sure to look cute in the IG stories those days LOLLLL).  I'd like to introduce 15-year-veteran of comedy, Deon Curry. I first heard Deon, as the co-host of my favorite podcast "The Patdown with Ms. Pat" (see Chris Spangle's episode "Blazing Saddles"). He was blunt, he was giggly, he was the perfect fit to the podcast and I very much was inspired by their dynamic in creating "Full Metal Ratchet".     FMR #018: "Do the Ramadan" ('Ramy' TV Show) w/ Ghali @glasses_n_beard

    *please excuse the audio, guest was outdoors* Welcome to episode #18! I'm so excited to bring back Ghali @glasses_n_beard from our "Coming to America" episode to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Ramadan with us. Ghali, who is Moroccan-American, does an amazing job of breaking down the holiday's origins, the practice of fasting, and the spiritual connection one has to their god during this time. 'Ramy' is a TV show, which is a bit different than usual FMR, but since I couldn't find a Ramadan-themed holiday film yet, Ramy Youssef's comedic take on a young Muslim-American man trying to cleanse himself of distractions and gain focus during Ramadan. This was one of my favorite episodes so far and I felt I learned so much Arabic too! MashAllah!     Ep. 016: "The Entire History of You (Black Mirror)": Can One Forgive and Forget? feat. Sameena R.

    #016! My work colleagues are so supportive, for real! My longest supervisor was Sameena, when I joined my current company. This was not the easiest time in my life---to say the least. Five years ago, this show, the effort I put into my life now was non-existent. I was fresh out of a dark, depressive, mentally-deadly time in my life where a visit to a mental facility was in my history. I share all of this to say, my workplace enthusiasm matched my moods at this time. For Sameena, she saw past a toasted, black girl hiding her earbuds under her hat. She saw a person; a potentially great employee and a complete human with issues and struggles. Words cannot describe how much I need that at the time. I invite Sameena humbly to discuss an episode of the Netflix/Channel 4 British-American sci-fi series, "Black Mirror". This episode is from season #1, the third installment entitled 'The Entire History of You' starring excellent actor and dead-ringer for a high school buddy of mine, Toby Kebbell. She and I chose this episode instead of a traditional film because of the connection between her and the topic---fidelity and the future. As the characters struggle to have a relationship balance with advanced technology, Sameena boldly and somehow humorously shares her separation stories. I learned so much from this episode and from Sameena, please join us as we discuss this show on Full Metal Ratchet!
