Gardens for Good Causes

RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a unique platform for charitable organisations to tell their stories. Project Giving Back was set up to fund 42 gardens for good causes over three years at the world-famous show, all of which will be relocated afterwards. This podcast shares conversations, insight and advice from Project Giving Back, designers, charities and other guests on what it takes to create a successful Chelsea garden, and how show gardens can leave a lasting legacy for good causes.

    In our new series discussing 2023's gardens for good causes, we're starting with a deep dive into the inspiration behind and future plan of one of the recent gardens from RHS Chelsea - The Teapot Trust 'Elsewhere Garden'. Hattie is joined by Tom Steele, Director of Estates and Facilities, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, to discuss the relocation plan at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. It will afford long term benefits and equitable access to transformational art therapy. Hattie also spoke with Ruth Girvan, Chair of the Teapot Trust, who has lived experience of the challenges of having a child with a long term health condition, JIA, and has experienced first-hand the life-changing impact Teapot Trust can have on children who go through multiple hospital visits, procedures and tests, and their ability to face into their (often invisible) condition.  Recorded before the RHS Chelsea Flower Show where the garden won a Gold medal in the All About Plants category.     In this live episode, Project Giving Back brought together charity representatives from this year's cohort of PGB funded gardens at the 2023 RHS Chelsea Flower Show for a discussion in the lead up to Chelsea. The event was a chance for the 2023 funded charities to ask questions and hear from three representatives from our 2022 cohort giving a talk on the human impact of gardens. The talk was hosted by Tom Harfleet, former RHS Chelsea Show Manager  GUEST SPEAKERS Tayshan Hayden-Smith, Founder of Grow2Know Darryl Moore, Director and Cofounder of Cityscapes Georgi Peyok, Special Event Manager - Major Giving at Mind Recorded live at The Conduit in London on 24 April, 2023. Project Giving Back is a grant making organisation funding gardens for good causes at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show from 2022 - 2024.
