GasCast is a podcast produced by University of Cincinnati nurse anesthesia students, featuring interviews with fellow students and practicing CRNAs to explore burnout, mental health, and resilience in anesthesia training and practice. In Season 1, Mary Clare and Scot examined burnout in the anesthesia profession. Building on that foundation, Season 2 is hosted by Hannah and Zach, who blend research, personal experience, and expert perspectives to explore how burnout develops and—most importantly—how it can be prevented.

    On this episode, we sit down with Jessica Storey, DNP, CRNA to discuss what it is like to transition from SRNA to CRNA and how to handle it effectively.  Jessica has been practicing as a Pediatric CRNA for 4 years and describes her personal experience with stress and how it has changed throughout her time as a CRNA.  Additionally, we discuss themes that were present in our DNP project free-response question about stress management and offer evidence-based strategies to mitigate burnout.
