Generational Scriptures

Generational Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is the written word of God. However, there is an idea that scripture can be understood and applied based on who is reading it. With this podcast we want to dig deeper into Bible stories and understand what the Scriptures meant to the audience of that time and what it means to us now as XYZers. We say XYZers because the host of this podcast are Chris (Gen X), Moyo (Gen Y) and Jasmine (Gen Z). Each host is at a different place in their walk with Christ but all have a desire to grow closer to God by understanding the words He's already laid out for us.

So the objective of the test is what The God desires.  God called for Abraham, by name Abraham answered as available (Here I am) God Tells Abraham what He wants him to do - three commands Take - No mistaking which son God is talking about (imperative) Your son Your only son Isaac Whom you love Go - Tells where to go (land of Moriah) (imperative) A Mountain that I will show you Offer - Tells him what to do once he gets there (imperative) Offer your son As a burnt offering (No mistaking what this offering will entail)  Abraham obeys (as he has always done, when called directly) Rose early in the morning Saddled his donkey Took two of his young men with him Took Isaac Took the wood for the burnt offering Then he left to the place where God told him Abraham travels Three days later Abraham lifted up his eyes (again) Saw the place he was going Read Genesis 22 5-10 - 24:21 Abraham states what will happen Young men stay with the donkey I and the boy (me and Isaac) will go over there We will worship We will come again to you (lying, prophecy, faith,?) Need the items for the offering Laid the wood on Isaac - the offering Took the fire and the Knife - the offerer They went together (just them) Isaac has some questions (he has seen this before) Father Here I am, my son Where is the lamb? Knows that something is not right - saying what we are all thinking Abraham answers profoundly God will provide for Himself the lamb God provides Provided for Himself A lamb for a burnt offering They went together - again Getting everything setup - this detail tho They reached the place that God told them  Abraham built the altar (what did this entail) Abraham laid the wood in order Abraham bound Isaac (Isaac seemed a willing participant) Abraham laid Isaac on top of the wood Time to do the do Abraham reached out his hand Abraham took the knife (no question about the intent) Read Genesis 22 11-14 - 38:59 But (adversative) the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham Called from Heaven Abraham, Abraham - really wants your attention Here I am (the third time) Change in plan from the LORD Don’t lay your hand on the boy Don’t do anything to him Now, I know that you (Abraham)  fear God (This was indeed a Test) Seeing you have not withheld your son from me The lamb provided He lifted up his eyes (again) Behold, a ram was behind him caught by his horns Abraham took the ram Abraham offered the ram as a burnt offering Abraham names the place The name is - The Lord will provide Today called “On the mount of the LORD is shall be provided Read Genesis 22 15-19 - 57:21 Angel of the LORD called again Called a second time Says “By myself have I sworn” - nothing higher, his own character Because you have done this (not withheld your son) I will surely bless you I will surely multiply you Your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies In Your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed All because you have obeyed my voice This is all before Abraham returned to the young men They went to Beersheba and lived at Beersheba Read Genesis 22 20-24 - 1:09:28 Abraham’s extended family Milcah has born children to Nahor (Abraham’s Brother) Uz his firstborn Buz his brother Kemuel the father of Aram Chesed Hazo Pildash Jidlaph Bethuel (fathered Rebekah) Nahor’s concubine bore to him (Reumah) Tebah Gaham Tahash Maacah Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/avbe/night-in-kyoto License code: WDUZARYUHWMKKMU3

About

We believe that the Bible is the written word of God. However, there is an idea that scripture can be understood and applied based on who is reading it. With this podcast we want to dig deeper into Bible stories and understand what the Scriptures meant to the audience of that time and what it means to us now as XYZers. We say XYZers because the host of this podcast are Chris (Gen X), Moyo (Gen Y) and Jasmine (Gen Z). Each host is at a different place in their walk with Christ but all have a desire to grow closer to God by understanding the words He's already laid out for us.
