Pt 3 - Owning Your Tech's Energy Footprint - Katie Singer

Over the previous 2 episodes we talked about Electromagnetic radiation effects on biology, and the true costs of the embodied energy of the internet. This is the 3rd installment of conversations with author Katie Singer. Today we’re going to go into dealing with this awareness on a personal level, what we can do ourselves, and how we can adapt our behavior in light of this information.

Pt 2 - Embodied Energy of the Internet - Katie Singer

“If people remain unaware, in the illusion of the simplicity of sending an email, then there isn’t really a way to move forward until Nature imposes limits on us”

Where do we get these wonderful toys? What are the hidden costs of the Internet? How do we get silicon wafers for electronics manufacturing?

And while we’re at it, how are we able to download podcasts for free? Or is it free? What is the true cost?

Pt 1 - Electronic Silent Spring - Katie Singer

“EMF stands for electromagnetic fields. All living creatures need the Earth’s EMFs in order to navigate, digest food, reproduce and more. Human-made EMFs emitted by electronic technologies can interfere with and harm living creatures’ basic functioning.”
Katie Singer’s book, An Electronic Silent Spring “focuses on how mobile phones and Wi-Fi affect children and how wireless technologies can interfere with medical implants like insulin pumps, cardiac pacemakers and deep brain stimulators.”

Mysticism, Immigration Law, and the National Shadow - Robert Foss

Robert Foss is the Director of Immigration Legal Services Division at the International Institute of Los Angeles.

"Well I think in general, it's interesting to parse the word ecstasis, ecstacy. And ecstasis to stand outside oneself. So it's a kind of, it's an altered state of consciousness, it's a kind of transcendence...but it's also a connection, some sort of realization that on some deep level, one is not alone." /11:37

Welcome Those Leaving the "Cult of Trump" with David Weissman

This conversation isn’t so much about the specifics of politics, but more about the nature of leaving the “Cult of Trump” and welcoming others to do the same.

David Weissman was born in New York and served in the US Army for 13 years, with two deployments to Afghanistan. He is a former Republican and left MAGA and ended his support for Trump. He joined the Democratic party now fighting for the rights of others.

Awesome podcast!

I appreciate the mix of guests and Abe’s way of maintaining the flow in each conversation, but also allowing for silence. Can’t wait to hear more!! Love the original artwork and music!

Yes, Useful

I’ve listened to the first four episodes, and “Genuinely” found “Useful” nuggets in each one. Especially useful to me are discussion on stillness (02 Cycling Through Remembering) and truths (04 Helicopters). Conversation can help participants — and listeners — understand themselves better! (Full disclosure, I’m Abe’s dad.)

My new podcast self-review

Of course, I'm going to review my own podcast! I enjoy this show as a creator and as a listener. The format right now is fun for me as it brings together music I've made and interesting conversations with great people that I'm fortunate to know. I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I do!
