    Q&A with Steve and Dave: The Lord’s Prayer

    Join Steve and Dave as they dig a little deeper into the questions that you have about our series, what we believe, and what to expect from Connections. Questions: Jesus gave clear instruction to pray to our father in Mt 6:9. And the father, throughout the OT, demanded we pray and worship only him. Jesus demonstrated prayer and worship to the father, not himself. So how is it justified to pray to Jesus under his clear instruction given in Mt 6:9?  Hebrews 1:8 confuses the matter even more because Jesus has already died. So when God calls his own son God, who is he talking to that gave us this message? Why don’t we recite the Lord’s prayer as Jesus commanded us to? Questions: Can you explain partnership at Connections?  Is it different from membership? Could you please explain the process of voting? Unless I misunderstood, you said that after a certain period of time, the members of Connections will have an opportunity to vote on the next lead pastor. But there is only one contender for the next lead pastor. So I’m confused as to what the point is of even voting. and what if the members of the church vote no, they don’t feel Perry is a good fit? Do you then have to start all over looking for a new lead pastor? Did the church look outside of our current congregation for any possible candidates? If not, why? Questions: With the announcement of Perry’s candidacy, it sounded like it was a done deal. Will the elders be reviewing other candidates? You said in the Q and A last week that our 3 part time staff members "could equal one person" in terms of what they do and provide. I think that is kind of our point that hiring people (mostly family members) without consult on their roles is a misuse of our funds. Dave making significantly more in his retirement fund than I make at my full time job each year has really made me uneasy. Can you explain how compensation is determined for all staff members?     Q&A with Steve and Dave: Perfection and Politics

Questions: When the Bible says someone is blameless does that mean they are without sin? Would the apostles that heard the message regarding the yeast of Herod have been capable of holding a political position or have been a political activist? I don't know much about the political climate or availability of political office. I’ve been feeling convicted about gossip and trying to step away from it. I have a friend I usually fall into gossip with, and I’m not sure what to do now that I’m trying to grow in this area. Should I have a conversation with them? Or is it better to just distance myself quietly and let the friendship fade? What’s the most Christlike way to handle something like this?
