    6.3 Directing, Producing, & Performing w/ MICHELLE DANNER

    Today on the Get Set! Podcast we have Director, Producer, Performer, and Educator MICHELLE DANNER! Danner’s latest film out now Under the Stars is a romantic comedy starring Toni Collette and Andy Garcia. It was released late last year on all digital platforms. Her film, The Italians,  a love letter to her Italian mother, is streaming on Amazon. The film stars Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters), Rob Estes (Silk Stalkings), Perrey Reeves (Entourage), David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverly Place), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows), Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Little Miss Sunshine). Danner is also has been a longtime student of legendary acting teachers like Stella Adler and Uta Hagen, and has worked privately with actors including with Christian Slater, Salma Hayek, Gerard Butler, Seth MacFarlane, Penelope Cruz, Chris Rock, Gabrielle Union, Zooey Deschanel, Henry Cavill, Isla Fisher and James Franco.     6.2 Starting in the Writer's Room w/ NIKITA IYER

    Executive Producer's Assistant, Showrunner's Assistant, Writer's Assistant, and Writers' PA; what are the differences in roles, lessons learned, and biggest advice from someone fresh off working in a Writers' room. Today on the pod we have Writer Nikita Iyer who talks to us all about her biggest advice for being in a Writers' room as a Writer’s PA , asking yourself the hard questions to see what you really want, that there is no age limit to starting what you really want to do as long as you can let go of your ego, how to read the room, the etiquette of pitching in a Writer’s room, and her best exercise to test if she’s on track with a pitch idea. Nikita was most recently an assistant to a Co-Executive Producer and Writers’ PA on a television show for 20th / Hulu. Previously, she's worked at an agency for 3 years, first as an assistant in the TV department and then on the accounting team. Nikita offers a unique perspective of seeing both sides of a Writer’s experience, understanding the pitches getting sent to and from an agency, the research of what gets picked up and why, and the intricacies and hierarchy of a Writer’s room.   Above all else this is a very informative and fun episode from a truly awesome person who opens up to share all she knows.     5.14 Directing Your First Episode of Television w/ RICHELLE TAYLOR

    One of our favorite people in the industry RICHELLE TAYLOR is back on the podcast today, sharing with us all the details of how she booked and worked her first directing job for a major network television show! She walks us through how this job came to be, her prep process, the realness of those first few moments where every department head is looking to you, how she balanced everything on the day, how and why to trust the people you work with, and the feeling of dropping into an already established show and actors who have worked for years in these characters, along with building new ones. There is SOOO much info in this episode, and if you listened to her episode in Season 2 Episode 14 talking about her extensive experience on set as a Script Supervisor, you know what an incredible person she is, and that she's absolutely FULL of logistical and tangible notes that are beneficial for everyone to hear in this space. If you need to hear it, this is your sign, to keep working, keep doing the thing, keep putting your best foot forward, and moments like this can happen, where you get the opportunity to finally be in your dream role on set.
