JDM Music + Sound Founder Joel Dean

JDM Music + Sound is a well respected company located in the heart of LA. Primarily they create music for trailers, you've heard their work on  Monkey Man, Wonka, Marvel Studios ‘Secret Invasion’, The Equalizer, The Brothers Son, Good Mother, Fast and Furious, Scream as well as a long list of other high profile film properties.
Forging the path for JDM Music + Sound is composer and founder Joel Dean. I've had the pleasure of watching his career for several years as it's blossomed into one of the leading music houses in Los Angeles. He's a down to earth guy, family, man,  an extraordinary composer, and businessman. I'm really delighted to have him on GIG With Mike Redman today, every time I talk to Joel, I walk away, feeling smarter somehow.

Josh Rabinowitz - Music Producer and Consultant

Josh Rabinowitz - Music Producer and Consultant

I had a casual conversation with legend Josh Rabinowitz, who Fast Company  called the new music mogul  the Cannes Music Jury calls, a musical genius.
As many of you know, I made a great living, writing music, primarily for advertising, because that's where the real money was at the time. What you don't know is that I spent several of those years trying to get the attention of Josh.

At Grey Advertising he was a legend, untouchable, probably because his time was in such high demand . He's well-connected and he’s an expert in his field working with the who’s who in the music industry and from what I hear a great trombone player.

Gary Moffatt - 38 Special Drummer

Gary Moffatt - 38 Special Drummer

Hi  everybody welcome to GIG I'm your host, Mike Redman. I grew up in the days when rock bands ruled the world and I lived in the South in Richmond, Virginia. One of my favorite Southern Rock bands was '38 Special'.

Still to this day they're one of the hardest working rock bands in the country playing about 100 dates the drummer in the band is powerhouse Gary Moffat,  and I'm happy to say a  longtime friend of mine. When Garry plays, you can tell that he puts every fiber of his body into it.

Today I'm happy to have Gary on GIG to share his thoughts about drumming, touring, soloing, and his family '38 Special'.

He began his career co-scoring blockbuster films like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs with his uncle, noted composer Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO). His music plays in television shows around the world, from a series of investigative crime specials for the BBC, to foodie favorites Chef's Table (Netflix) and HBO’s The Big Brunch.

    2023 Wrap-up Part II

    2023 Wrap-up Part II

Part 2 of the 2023 GIG with Mike Redman consists of excerpts from some of my most interesting guests, giving their perspective on things like: making it as a independent producer in today's economy, things every musician should know about business, working with Quincy Jones as a producer, and more.

Enjoy, learn and be grateful -  something I try to do every single day.

    All the best this year,

    Mike Redman
