    This week's conversation landed on the calendar at just the right time. With Independence Day just around the corner, it got me thinking...if there's one thing Americans don't like, it's being told what we can't do. (Shocking, I know.) This week, as fireworks fill the sky and we celebrate freedom, let's talk about another kind of freedom—the kind God offers through Sabbath. Together we'll revisit Exodus 16, unlearn a thing or two, and discover why remembering who we are just might help us learn how to stop. Because freedom can happen in a moment.     #128- A Chance To Catch Up On Nothing: Summer of Sabbath- Revisited

    I have this blue-and-white tote bag that goes just about everywhere with me. At this point, it's basically my emotional support bag. Bills to pay. Plans to make. Books to read. Reading glasses. Random protein bars. A life insurance policy with 47 gajillion medical questions to renew. You know, the essentials. Maybe you have a “tote bag” too… one that feels like you're carrying all.the.things. We're continuing our Summer of Sabbath-Revisited series with another look at this question: What if Sabbath was never meant to happen after we're caught up? Because let's be honest: when exactly is that? Sounds like the real goal isn't an empty schedule or an empty tote bag. Maybe the goal is simply giving our souls a chance to catch up.     REPLAY #17- Enough is Enough: Sabbath Stopping

    A Summer of Sabbath Replay Episode! Enjoy, my Friend! Do you ever feel like you just need permission to stop? To stop from the constant day-in and day-out of life. To stop from the tyranny of the urgent and the sensory overload of life. To stop from the stress, the woes, the fears, the labor. Permission granted. Yes, when it comes to Sabbath, we not only have permission to stop, but a responsibility to do so. Our bodies need it, and our souls do too.     My Grammy always had a list. Honestly, so do I. This week on Glordinary, we’ll chat about To-Do lists, dough, manna, Sabbath, and how we keep collecting "just one more thing" to do. The problem is, the list never really ends. And giving up a whole day to Sabbath seems unrealistic with that To-Do list staring back at us. But what if Sabbath isn't about what you can't do? What if it's about what you don't have to do? Join me as we revisit Exodus 16, reflect on a gift from my Grammy, and discover that Sabbath was never meant to be another item on the list. Sabbath is a gift from the Gift-Giver Himself.
