Are You Getting The Best Training?
It's important to evaluate your coaches just as much as they are evaluating you. Pay attention to how your goalkeeper coach teaches and breaks down the concepts and techniques of goalkeeping. Be weary of coaches who focus too much on "working you to death" by having you jump over ropes and dive across your goal with little regard to technique and control.

If They Tell You "NO", Keep Going!
There will be many times throughout your career as a goalkeeper when you will be told "No" and that's perfectly normal! Not being selected after a tryout is an opportunity to go back to the drawing board and work on your weaknesses. Also, be grateful for every opportunity you have to showcase your ability as a goalkeeper.

Always Look For Challenging Environments
One of the best things you can do for your development as a youth goalkeeper is to find more challenging environments to play in that will help you grow. A great way to do this is look for opportunities to play up a year and be a guest goalkeeper for an older team for a tournament or game. This will help you advance much quicker by getting used to the game at a higher level.
