Buka, by I Wayan Sadra
Two version of a piece by the experimental Indonnesian composer I Wayan Sadra, who passed away earlier this year. "Buko Semarangan" was recently recorded, while "Buka," part of a dance accompaniment, was composed and recorded in 1989, and included on "New Music Indonesia Vol.3" a series on Lyrichord Discs.

Gending Erhu (gongcast 02)
Gendhing Erhu, by Jarrad Powell, combines the carefully crafted tuning of Seattle's Gamelan Pacifica with a Chinese erhu played by virtuoso Warren Chang. This is one of 6 tracks on a recent re-issue of Pacifica's first CD, Trance Gong. The CD is availalbe from the American Gamelan Institute at www.gamelan.org, and also from CDbaby.com.

the day is closed in, dark, dull,the overcast is oppressive...the sound of the gongs struck me right in my heart...my vision began to change and I saw the players, the group,the group,together, creating the music that embraced me and I sat back and just took it in and listened and saw the the hands of the players ,creating...and I thought, "this is a good day, this is a very good day"....exactly what g-d said when he made the world....
