Ep 1- Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky & Our First Presidents: Loyalty to the Constitution, Not Party

For our debut episode, we sat down with Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky. She's the Executive Director of the George Washington Presidential Library, acclaimed author, and one of the foremost presidential historians of America's founding era. Lindsay makes a compelling case for why Washington was not just the obvious choice for President, but the only choice and how his instinct to surround himself with brilliant, qualified people gave birth to the very concept of the Cabinet. We also explore John Adams' underappreciated role in modeling what it means to carry the weight of the presidency with honor, integrity, and loyalty to the Constitution over party. Lindsay shares how the Founders understood the fragility of the republic they built, and what she believes they would make of those who have threatened it (January 6th).  We close with something more personal: her favorite artifacts and items from the library and Mount Vernon that bring this extraordinary history to life. Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky is the perfect guest to open Good George and she can be followed on social media and at www.lindsaychervinsky.com Good George is a non-partisan project to restore goodness and integrity to civics and public office. You can support and follow along through our podcast, writings, and coming digital magazine at www.GoodGeorge.us (coming), and on Bluesky. Please help us share the Good George message!

If you're discouraged by the current state of the country, the extreme division and lack of integrity in government, and are seeking people and organizations that want to offer a positive alternative to it, this is for you. Good George is a non-partisan project and podcast that believes character still matters. In a nod to George Washington, the only President of the United States to not belong to a political party, we seek to restore goodness and integrity to civics and public office. This is not left. This is not right. This is about the common good for America. Good George utilizes three main episode formats: Guest conversations and interviews- historians, authors, leaders in government, current politicians & candidates, major institutions and think tanks... all agreeing to discuss major topics in good faith and in a non-partisan manner. Fireside Chats- in a tip of the hat to those made famous by FDR during the 1930s and 1940s, it's a simple speech to provide clarity and calmness during today's chaotic world. It'll make you question the very soul of America and, hopefully, help us believe in a better future. No preaching. No soapbox speeches. Just a call to our higher selves and the power of a reunited American spirit. It could be just me, or a contributer, or even a candidate. Good 101- purely educational, no political spin or angles. A timely and/or timeless topic will be introduced and the basic history of it is presented (What is gerrymandering? How did taxation start and evolve over the last 250 years in America? What is Choice Ranked Voting?) Here's the important part: No performative outrage. No pandering to the extremes. No clickbait. We can survive bad policies. We can not survive bad people. America's good has no party affiliation. This is Good George. It's a new form of an exploratory committee and you can be a part of it.   www.GoodGeorge.us (coming soon)
