    Matthew 2: The Wise Men, King Herod, and the Hidden Story Behind Christmas

    In this episode of Grace & Scripture, we explore Matthew chapter 2, one of the most misunderstood passages in the New Testament. Many people know the Christmas story of the wise men and the star, but Matthew reveals a much deeper and more dramatic story. In this episode we talk about who the Magi really were, why King Herod felt threatened by the birth of Jesus, and how Matthew connects these events to prophecies written centuries earlier. This chapter also includes one of the darkest moments in the Gospel narrative, the massacre in Bethlehem. Matthew does not avoid the pain of that moment, but instead places it within the larger story of God’s plan unfolding through history. We also look at why the religious leaders in Jerusalem missed the Messiah even though they knew the Scriptures, why Joseph fled with Mary and Jesus to Egypt in the middle of the night, and the deeper meaning behind Jesus growing up in Nazareth.
