    S6E18: The Beauty of Concerts and the Grand Rapids Griffins (Feat. Michael Spruit)

    Michael Spruit joins Elaine Shircliff on “Graced By Rain” to discuss the beauty of concerts and the Grand Rapids Griffins.  Spruit is a multimedia creator from Michigan who spent eight years working in professional hockey—first with the Grand Rapids Griffins from 2014 to 2018, where he was part of the team during their 2017 Calder Cup championship run, and then with the Detroit Red Wings from 2018 to 2021, traveling with the team and creating behind-the-scenes content. These days, he leads multimedia projects for LLYC, a marketing agency with an office in Grand Rapids, but his other passion is live music. Michael’s been to more than 65 concerts and seen over 130 different bands—from Foo Fighters and Green Day to local favorites like Mustard Plug. Recently, he started tracking his “Concert Alphabet” , where he’s working his way through the alphabet, one live show at a time.  With only V and X remaining.     S6E13: The Beauty of Covering a Wagon (feat. Sam Wismer of Olde City Sports Network)

    The Grand Rapids Griffins and Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins are off to a blazing hot start to the 2025-26 season. A 5-0 start for the Griffins is the franchise record for hottest start to a season. The only other season they accomplished this feat was 2004-05. The Penguins are on a massive 7-0 streak to start the season. Both have huge games coming up in the last week of October. Their hopes are to keep the streak alive. On Monday, October 28, 2025, I sat down with Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins beat reporter Sam Wismer of Olde City Sports to discuss what it's like to cover a wagon of a team.
