This is my 11th Mixtape. As always, my goal is to make a mix that is all about the mixing itself. long, hypnotic transitions that blur the lines between songs. I absolutely love listening to a mix where all of a sudden, I realize I am listening to a whole new song, but I have no idea how we got there. Who Are You Really? Le Youth’s upcoming album and tour, titled Who Are You Really, is a nice challenge to reflect on who we are when no one is looking. I’ve been a lot of things in life - a son, a brother, a gay naval officer during don’t ask don’t tell, a husband, a music business founder, a student. But thanks to Le Youth and the This Never Happened family of artists, I’ve also discovered that what matters most to me is music. Writing, creating and mixing music is one way I express who I am. Wes, Thank you for the opportunity to contemplate “Who Am I Really.” This 30 minute mix is only a small window into that, but it feels like a good statement of who I am right now.
