🔒 The Light Within You: Contemplations on Personal Growth and Change

🔒 The Light Within You: Contemplations on Personal Growth and Change

    Subscriber-only episode
Ever wondered about the fundamental difference between a force and a condition? As I dive into this thought-provoking topic, I illuminate the philosophy behind forces and conditions using the metaphor of light and darkness, inspired by the teachings in Frances Key's The Team books. I take you on a journey to understanding how force, like light, is an active presence while a condition, much like darkness, is a passive state of being.

Drawing parallels from the epic Star Wars universe, I talk about the profound concept of how the same force can be used for creation or destruction. Amidst global unrest, I invite you to reflect upon your capacity to wield your personal force for positive change. Regardless of the magnitude of the issue, your light, your energy, indeed makes a pivotal difference- not just a symbolic difference, a real difference.  There is something you can do!

Tune in as I encourage you to harness your personal power to dispel darkness and create a positive impact.

Transformation From Grief- How Adversity Helps Us Grow- with Matthew Brackett

Ever wondered why life's greatest lessons are often borne out of pain and why adversity tends to be a key catalyst for personal growth? In our latest episode, we dive deep into these questions with Matthew Brackett, an executive leadership coach and resiliency expert. Known for his unique wisdom stemming from his experiences growing up in a large family and international service, Matthew provides profound insights into navigating complex territories such as self-hatred, depression, and the practice of compassion and empathy.

Brackett’s insights guide us to understand the significance of healthy leadership, authority, and the transformative power of pain. We talk about the often-used phrase "everything happens for a reason" and challenge it by encouraging you to find meaning and purpose in tragedy as a way to move forward. We talk about the resilience of the human spirit and how the concept of free will influences our perception of pain and grief.

We also delve into questions about religion, free will, and suffering. We challenge common misconceptions, examining the influence of charismatic leaders in shaping religious ideologies and discussing the need for a more inclusive and compassionate approach to faith. We share Matthew's experiences growing up in a large family and the lessons learned about community, responsibility, and intentional decisions. We then shift the conversation towards understanding ego, diversity, and human dignity, highlighting the importance of being honest with ourselves and dealing with our emotions. Join us for this thought-provoking journey, and let's grow together.

🔒 Exploring Connections Beyond Death: The Continuing Bonds Model

🔒 Exploring Connections Beyond Death: The Continuing Bonds Model

    Subscriber-only episode
Have you been told grieving the loss of a loved one meant severing ties with them, letting go, and moving on? Religion tells us this- maybe we'll see them later. Materialism tells us they're gone for good.

What if I told you there's another way? In this heartfelt episode, I share my journey with grief and how it led me to discover the Continuing Bonds Model. This approach says our connections with loved ones don't have to end when they pass on. It's been a transformative journey for me, particularly after my daughter Shayna's passing, and I hope sharing it brings comfort and hope to those grappling with their grief.

As we explore the traditional Freudian view of grief and how it contrasts with the Continuing Bonds Model, I share my experiences and learnings about how I've been able to include Shayna in my daily life, communicate with her, and carry her legacy forward. This isn't about rushing through life to 'get to the good stuff'; it's about embracing the present and understanding that our loved ones are still part of our lives, even if in a different way. Whether you're dealing with loss or just curious about alternate approaches to grief and mourning, this episode offers a compassionate, integrative perspective that challenges conventional wisdom.

🔒 It's Getting Better All The Time (In Spite Of Appearances)

    Subscriber-only episode
Imagine a world where peace prevails over conflict, compassion overpowers hate, and every small step toward serenity is celebrated as a victory. That's the world I try to envision in this special episode.

I grapple with the heart-wrenching Middle Eastern conflict between Israel and Hamas, reflecting on its horrifying cost in human life, with over 10,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis estimated to have been killed. But even in such dark times, there are glimmers of hope and progress, as global attitudes towards civilian casualties shift significantly, urging nations to limit the harm caused to innocent lives.

I continue our journey beyond the war zones, highlighting the inspiring work of Jewish peace advocates, who, despite facing the chaos and despair of conflict, continue fighting for the rights of Palestinians. I question societal norms, inspecting our progress toward a peaceful world, and ask the pressing questions we should be asking ourselves. Are we doing enough? Can we make a difference? I believe we can. Through collective efforts, we can bring about the change we desire.

Join me, as we explore the power of collective efforts to create a world where peace is not just a dream, but a reality.

Near Death, Forgiveness, Alzheimer's

I've been listening to Brian's podcasts. I had beaver done much delving into near death experiences. I'm fascinated by the commonalities of experiences. 'on the Path to Forgiveness' conveys the power of forgiving. A disease like Alzheimer's is devastating to the victim and the family. Grinnan's revelations helped me to make sense of similar situations. All shows well done. I look forward to more listening.

Comfort and connection

I haven’t liked a podcast this much since Oprah’s Super Soul. The content and Brian’s demeanor brings me so much peace as I navigate my grief. Brian, you will never know the depth of how much you have helped me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you do.

Brings me so much comfort

After my own son’s passing, I was obsessed with NDEs and mediumship to prove to myself I’d get to see my son again… This podcast is both combined and the messages have been so insightful and timed amazingly with other readings/learnings I’ve found. Brian consistently has amazing interviewees, each of whom have different stories yet help shape a very hopeful future.
