The death of one's child is a grief like no other. As a bereaved parent, part of your very being has been cut off from you, and you must figure out how to live with that part of you missing. You will never be the same, but you can have hope that your life can still have meaning and purpose again, as you learn to live in a way that honors the life of your child instead of being stuck in the deep grief of his or her death.
The Grieving Parents Sharing Hope podcast is an outreach of the national organization GPS Hope, which provides support and resources for bereaved parents, especially those who are struggling with their Christian faith after the death of their child. This show discusses many topics that only those who have lost a child can understand, and is hosted by award-winning author, speaker, singer and (most importantly) bereaved parent, Laura Diehl.

259: Our Promised Miracle
If you know Laura, you know that she feels things deeply and tears come easily to her. Somehow, she manages to hold those tears back when recording the podcast episodes... but not this time. A miracle is something only God can do, which is what we wanted (and even expected) for our children, either in [...]

258: Mother’s Day After Child Loss
Mother's Day can be one of the most difficult days of the year for a mom after child loss. In this episode, Laura will be talking about both Mother's Day, and a special day the week before, which is International Bereaved Mother's Day, which is the first Sunday in May. Laura is very real and [...]

257: Do Not Allow the Pressure of Comparing
So much horrific pain and darkness comes with child loss. It doesn't matter how young or how old your child was when they left this earth. It doesn't matter if it was sudden or if it was long and drawn out. As pareavors (bereaved parents), we can bristle when others say they know how we [...]

256: God’s Future Plans for You
After the loss of a child, there are scriptures that used to get us excited that don't make any sense now. They seem untrue and maybe even cruel. In today's episode, Laura talks about one of those verses, Jeremiah 29:11, where God tells us He has good plans for us, to give us hope and [...]

255: Where Did My Friends Go?
Today's topic is one Laura gets asked about in emails, which is addressing the issue of losing friends we thought would be there for us in our time of grief. Laura and her guest, June Collins, talk about this from June’s experience of losing her 2-year-old son 12 years ago. Their conversation has a lot [...]

254: Taking Communion After the Turmoil of Child Loss
If I am struggling with anger and confusion and my faith is rocky right now, shouldn't I pass on taking the elements of communion? In today's episode, Laura digs into 1 Corinthians 11, talking about the purpose of communion and what makes us "unworthy". Based on scripture, Laura believes that we are not disqualified. Not [...]

One of my lifelines after my sons transition
This podcast has been a true blessing to me, after our son suddenly passed away unexpectedly at only 13 years old in 2022. I felt so alone even in a room full of people, I’ll never forget the day my daughter and I stumbled upon this pod cast, it was like a true God send for us. I am forever grateful to the Lord for Laura and her transparency of this unwanted journey, at almost two years in, I use prayer and Gods Word coupled with this pod cast as a tool to help navigate my own painful journey, if you’re reading this I’m so sorry your here, but I can testify of just how helpful this podcast can be, on some of your hardest days. Many days I’ve listened with a box of tissue as tears silently rolled down my face, sometimes I listen with a note pad as I jot down notes of encouragement to share with my husband and our other children, or scriptures for future study, but I look forward to the practical wisdom of Laura and her guest who have gone before me and offer the hand I need to hold to make it to the other side of this. Be encouraged.
