    Depression, Joy, and the In-Between

During this episode of the Grim Drive Podcast, where we explore mental health through the lens of professional sports and athletes, we discuss Depression, Joy, and the In-Between. Upon doing a Twitter poll a couple months back where we asked what topics people would want us to cover on the podcast, we got a lot of feedback, and depression was the most requested topic by far.  It is safe to say that many have either dealt with depression personally or had a friend or loved one deal with depression.  Going through a 2+ year pandemic has certainly increased the number of people impacted by depression or depressive symptoms impacting mood and mental health.  In this episode, we delve into this topic to discuss some common causes, as well as some educational information about how some people achieve relief from this mood-based challenge that impacts so many. *The Grim Drive Podcast is a way for people to learn about mental fitness, mental health, and mental illness, through the lens of sports. Ted Lasso Season 2

During this episode of the Grim Drive Podcast, where we explore mental health through the lens of professional sports and athletes, we discuss the SECOND season of Ted Lasso, a show on AppleTV. If you missed the first season episode, it is also on Apple/Spotify and here is the Youtube link: https://youtu.be/onaKgXx5OJk Every 10 episodes or so we deviate from the typical episode format and have a little fun.  We were a bit overdue for that and decided to have back to back episodes covering each of the two seasons of Ted Lasso, a show on Apple TV starring Jason Sudeikis that broke the record for Emmy Award nominations by a show in the first season. With writing that is genius and character development that is unrivaled, Ted Lasso is a must watch, particularly because it is extremely funny, covers the full range of emotions, shows the value of a great Coach, and explores the overlap between athletics and mental health.  We cover our key lessons to take away from Season 2, our favorite scenes and characters, notable funny moments, and more. *The Grim Drive Podcast is a way for people to learn about mental fitness, mental health, and mental illness, through the lens of sports. Confidence

During this episode of the Grim Drive Podcast, where we explore mental health through the lens of professional sports and athletes, we discuss Confidence. Confidence, or the ability to be self-secure, is a skill that can come in handy in order to maintain overall wellness and balance. In our work with young guys and athletes in particular, we see quite often how low levels of confidence negatively impacts athletic performance and more importantly, contributes to a lot of the negative thought processes that can contribute to difficult mental health challenges.  In this episode, we discuss what confidence is exactly, why it is important, and some examples of confidence from the world of pro sports.  We also discuss an athlete who embodies Grim Drive, and another person who tries to project Drive in a manner too Grim. *The Grim Drive Podcast is a way for people to learn about mental fitness, mental health, and mental illness, through the lens of sports.
