80: Why You Don’t Feel Like the Badass Everyone Else Sees

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, I’m talking about something I see over and over again with the women I coach—and something I lived in for years myself. You’re smart. You’re capable. You’ve done incredible things. People see you as a badass. But inside? You don’t quite feel it. If you’ve ever thought, “I know I’m capable… so why do I still second-guess myself?”—this episode is for you. I’m naming what I call Hidden Badass Syndrome—the gap between who you truly are and how you feel inside. And I’ll walk you through why this happens, especially for high-achieving women who were shaped by Good Girl conditioning. We’ll explore:  Why knowing you’re capable isn’t the same as feeling confident  How your nervous system—not your mindset—is driving self-doubt  The subtle ways your body signals “not safe” (even when you are)  Why working harder or learning more strategies isn’t the solution And most importantly, I’ll share the deeper path forward—how you begin to feel safe enough to be fully yourself, so your real power can come online. Because the truth is… There is nothing wrong with you. You’re not broken. You’re not behind. And you’re definitely not alone. Your badass isn’t missing. It’s just been hidden. And in this episode, I’ll help you start bringing her back to life. Want to go from Good Girl to Badass Leader—calm, clear, and deeply self-trusting? 79: From Good Girl to Badass: Unchecking the Boxes That Defined Me

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, I’m sharing a deeply personal and honest conversation about something so many high-achieving women experience—but rarely say out loud: You’ve done so many badass things… so why don’t you feel like one? From the outside, I looked successful. I had the title, the income, the achievements. But inside, I felt small. I second-guessed myself. I was constantly trying to prove, please, and perform. In this conversation, I open up about my journey from Good Girl to Badass Leader—what it really took to unlearn the conditioning that kept me playing small, and how I began to rebuild self-trust from the inside out. We talk about:  Why doing more, thinking more, or achieving more doesn’t solve self-doubt  How “Good Girl conditioning” gets wired into us—and how it silently runs the show  The difference between knowing you’re capable and actually feeling powerful  Why nervous system safety is the foundation of real confidence  The shift from forcing big leaps… to building safety through small, aligned steps This isn’t about becoming someone new.  It’s about coming home to who you already are—beneath the conditioning. If you’ve ever felt like everyone else sees your power… but you don’t fully feel it yourself—this episode is for you. 78: Now, it's the Badass Leader

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, I’m sharing something deeply personal—and honestly, a little vulnerable. I’m officially renaming this podcast from Unshakeable Confidence to The Badass Leader. And this isn’t just a rebrand. It’s an identity shift.  For years, I believed confidence was the goal. That if I achieved enough, proved enough, pushed hard enough… I would finally feel like the powerful woman everyone else already saw me as. But the truth is—confidence isn’t the destination. It’s the byproduct. What I’ve come to understand, through years of deep inner work, is this: Real transformation doesn’t come from more achievement. It comes from shifting how you see yourself—and more importantly, how you feel about yourself in your body. In this episode, I take you behind the scenes of my own journey:  From growing up in a small town in China…  To building a high-powered corporate career, leading a half-billion-dollar business… To hitting burnout (more than once)… To realizing that no level of external success could close the gap between how I looked on the outside and how I felt on the inside I talk about what I now call Good Girl conditioning—the invisible rules so many of us have been living by: Be perfect. Be agreeable. Don’t be too much. Don’t disappoint. Don’t take up space. These patterns helped me succeed. But they also kept me stuck, exhausted, and disconnected from who I really am. And at some point, I had to face the truth: The version of me that got me here… could not take me where I truly wanted to go. So I began the process of unlearning. Of peeling back the layers. Of retiring my inner Good Girl—and reconnecting with something much deeper. And recently… something shifted. For the first time, I didn’t just know I was powerful. I felt it. That’s what being a “badass” means to me now. Not performance. Not force. Not proving. But being fully yourself. Grounded. Clear. Self-trusting. Alive. In this episode, I’ll share: Why confidence alone is not enough The real reason high-achieving women feel “heavy” and exhausted How Good Girl conditioning silently runs your life What it actually takes to create an identity shift And what becoming a “Badass Leader” truly means (hint: it’s not what you think) This new chapter of the podcast is about helping you close that gap— between who the world sees you as… and who you feel yourself to be. Because you don’t need more proof. You don’t need more achievements. You just need to come home to yourself. And I’m here to show you how. Want to go from Good Girl to Badass Leader—calm, clear, and deeply self-trusting? I offer a free 60-minute consultation to help you get clear on where you are, where you want to go, and what’s holding you back. From there, we’ll explore what working together could look like. 77: Success Without Suffering: 5 Lessons from Alysa Liu’s Olympic Gold

Send us Fan Mail Can you create extraordinary success without suffering for it? For most ambitious women, success has always come with pressure, sacrifice, and relentless pushing. We were taught that if we want to achieve something meaningful, we must grind harder, endure more, and prove ourselves constantly. But what if that belief is simply not true? In this episode, I share the powerful story of Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu, the first American woman in 24 years to win Olympic gold in women’s figure skating. What moved me most wasn’t just her performance on the ice—it was the way she chose to pursue success. At just 16 years old, Alysa walked away from the sport she had trained for her entire life because it was costing her too much—her happiness, her freedom, and her sense of self. Two years later, she returned to skating, but this time on her own terms. And what happened next was extraordinary. Her story beautifully illustrates something I believe deeply:  Sustainable success doesn’t come from pressure. It comes from alignment, joy, and inner freedom. In this episode, I break down five powerful lessons from her journey and reflect on how they mirror my own path—from leaving an unfulfilling corporate career and an unhealthy marriage, to rediscovering who I truly am and building a life and business that feel deeply meaningful. If you’ve ever felt exhausted by success, disconnected from yourself, or pressured to achieve in ways that don’t feel true to you, this conversation will resonate deeply. Because the kind of success that truly fulfills you is not the one that demands you suffer. It’s the one you create on your own terms. 76: How to Celebrate Yourself: My 47th Birthday Reflection

Send us Fan Mail This episode is a special one — my birthday edition. As I turned 47, I found myself reflecting not just on how I celebrate, but what I’m actually celebrating. For years, my birthdays were about doing something fun — snowboarding, traveling, being in nature. And I still love that. But this year, something deeper shifted. Instead of only celebrating with activities, I chose to celebrate the woman I’ve become. In this episode, I share a simple yet powerful exercise that moved me deeply: I asked eight close friends to reflect back the strengths and qualities they see in me. What I received wasn’t just kind words — it was a mirror, a reminder, and a moment of real embodiment. We talk about why high achievers often move too quickly past their growth, how identity is strengthened through reflection, and why celebrating yourself is not indulgent — it’s essential for building grounded confidence. If you’ve been working hard on your growth but rarely pause to acknowledge it, this episode is an invitation to slow down and let your own evolution land. In this episode, I share: The difference between activity-based celebration and identity-based celebrationWhy building a supportive tribe later in life is absolutely possibleHow asking for reflection can strengthen your self-trust and confidenceWhat it feels like to truly let appreciation land in your bodyA simple practice you can try this week to celebrate who you are becomingIf this resonates, I invite you to try the same exercise for yourself. Ask someone you trust what they see in you — and allow their words to remind you of your own strength. And if you’d like support on your journey toward deeper confidence, self-trust, and alignment, I’d love to help. 75: Why Success Feels So Hard (And How to Change It)

Send us Fan Mail If you’ve achieved a lot in your career but still feel exhausted, pressured, or constantly “on,” this episode is for you. I recorded this on Lunar New Year — the year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of momentum, boldness, and ambition. And it made me reflect on something important: for many years, my success was powered by frantic fire — pressure, over-functioning, and constant striving. Today, my ambition is still alive… but the fire feels different.  It’s grounded. Regulated. Sustainable. In this episode, I share why success often feels so heavy for high-achieving women, and what actually needs to change — not in your job, your team, or your workload, but inside you. We’ll talk about:  • Why over-functioning and “being the responsible one” drains your energy  • The hidden beliefs and childhood conditioning that drive success-through-stress  • How nervous system safety shapes your ability to rest, set boundaries, and lead  • The simple equation that determines whether life feels hard or manageable  • And how creating internal safety and expanding your capacity allows you to succeed with more ease I also share personal stories from my corporate career and examples from my clients who are leading at higher levels than ever — but feeling calmer, steadier, and more grounded in the process. Because success and suffering don’t have to go together. You can be ambitious, impactful, and fulfilled — without burning yourself out. If this episode resonates with you, I invite you to take the next step with me. You’ll find a link in the show notes to book a free consultation, where we can explore how to create more ease, capacity, and grounded confidence in your life and leadership. I’m so glad you’re here. 74: Unchecking the Boxes: From Survival Mode to Living on My Own Terms

Send us Fan Mail We don’t wake up one day and decide to live in survival mode. We adapt. We cope. We push through. We prove. We please. We perform. And one day, we realize we’ve built a life that looks successful on the outside… but feels exhausting, tight, and heavy on the inside. In this deeply personal episode, Coco Duan shares the story behind her new book Unchecking the Boxes—and the five-year journey that took her from living in constant survival mode to building a life on her own terms. This isn’t a motivational hustle story. And it’s not about “being more positive” or “trying harder.” It’s about what actually changes when you stop overriding your body, stop living from fear, and start rebuilding from the inside out. You’ll hear Coco read the first chapter of her book and reflect on: 👉 What it really feels like to live in survival mode (even when life looks “successful”) 👉 Why proving, pleasing, and performing become coping strategies—not personality traits 👉 How the nervous system quietly runs your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships 👉 Why talk therapy and mindset work can hit a ceiling without embodied work 👉 The four-step process she uses: regulate, rewire, reclaim, and realign 👉 What real resilience looks like—not never getting triggered, but returning to calm faster 👉 How rest and joy stop being rewards and start becoming fuel Coco also shares what’s different now—how her inner world has fundamentally shifted, how she makes decisions with more clarity, how she sets boundaries with less guilt, and how she finally feels like she’s living her life instead of performing it. This episode is for you if: • You’re high-functioning but exhausted  • You feel constant pressure to prove, please, or perform  • You’re successful on paper but stuck in your body  • You keep pushing through, even though you’re tired  • You want change that actually lasts—not another reset that fades You don’t change your life by forcing the outside to look different. You change your life by changing how safe your body feels, how you relate to yourself, and who you believe you are. It starts inside-out. Not outside-in. And that’s what “unchecking the boxes” is really about. Want to go from Good Girl to Badass Leader—calm, clear, and deeply self-trusting? 73: How Not to Repeat 2025. Three Internal Shifts for a Different 2026

Send us Fan Mail We’re only weeks into a new year, and already so many people are thinking: I can’t do another year like that.” Not because you didn’t try. Not because you don’t want change badly enough. But because the way we’ve been taught to change asks us to start in the wrong place. More goals. More discipline. More willpower. A better planner. A perfect morning routine. It sounds promising—until life happens. Until your nervous system takes over. And suddenly, you’re back in the same patterns: tired, reactive, overextended, wondering why nothing ever sticks. In this masterclass episode, Coco Duan explains why most people end up repeating the same year—and what actually creates lasting transformation. This isn’t a productivity talk. And it’s not about trying harder. It’s an inside-out approach to change, built on three internal shifts that make a truly different 2026 possible. In this episode, we explore: 👉 Why behavior fixes fail when your nervous system doesn’t feel safe 👉 The hidden reason consistency feels impossible—and how shame gets created 👉 Why identity drives behavior (and not the other way around) 👉 How old identities form to protect you—and quietly keep you stuck 👉 Why goals alone don’t change your life, and what it means to build a supportive system 👉 Why real change requires embodiment, not just information Coco shares her own journey—from high-achieving but burned out, to calmer, more grounded, and deeply aligned—without hustling her way there. This episode is for you if: • You’re already tired and it’s only January • You keep setting goals but repeating the same patterns • You feel capable, driven… yet stuck • You want more success with less pressure and more ease You don’t need another year of pushing through. You need a different starting point. And when safety comes first, identity shifts next, and systems follow—change stops being forced and starts becoming natural. A different 2026 isn’t something you earn by suffering. It’s something you build—internally—one shift at a time. Want to go from Good Girl to Badass Leader—calm, clear, and deeply self-trusting?
