023 Manuela Powell The Magic of Your Authentic Self

023 Manuela Powell The Magic of Your Authentic Self

So exactly how much power does the “inner patriarchy” hold in your head?  You might be surprised! Manuela Powell helps you tackle all those fears of being too much, too loud, too aggressive, too ANYTHING. As an ex-cancer surgeon, she saw connections between the stress and anger her patients felt every day and the illnesses taking over their lives. Now she teaches women how to free themselves from the inside, outside of a doctor’s office.

Manuela is a life coach for 40+ women who are ready to start living their sparkliest, loudest, most outrageously real years of their lives. After finally getting the memo that she was queer at the tender age of 47, Manuela realized most women could use some help to come out of whichever BS closet they've been stuck in forever. So she took it upon herself to be their soul fluffer.

For almost 20 years, Manuel was a breast cancer surgeon, but after having her second child she decided she wanted to free
herself from endless work hours, toxic work environments, and unflattering scrubs, so she put away her scalpel to instead dissect women's minds and help them exorcise the “should”, “musts”, and “not good enough” from their brains forever, so they can be on the outside exactly who they are on the inside, to the horror of the patriarchy police.

Manuela is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and after living in New York City, Washington D.C. and Hawaii, she currently calls Austin, Texas her home. As a single mama to her two sons, she dances every day, curses like a sailor who stubbed her toe, and doesn't give a single crap to people who think she should start behaving her age.

022 Christin Dennis Part 2 Indigenous Magic for Turbulent Times

022 Christin Dennis Part 2 Indigenous Magic for Turbulent Times

    Indigenous Magic for Turbulent Times,
Part 2: Aligning Yourself Daily (With Christin Dennis)

In Part 2 of our discussion with Christin Dennis, he explains the core principles, rituals, and practices that help keep him aligned with the Creator. He shows us how he lives his day-to-day life, conversing with Spirit, praying in unexpected ways, and meeting his challenges with courage. You’ll relish his surprising stories, and the universal wisdom he offers for living better every day.

Christin Dennis is a member of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation in Southern Ontario, Canada. His traditional name is Gzhiiaqwat (She u quot), which translates to Fast-Moving Cloud. He is an artist and a musician. He is also a survivor of the Sixties Scoop, in which indigenous children were forcefully taken away from their families and communities and adopted into predominantly Christian, Caucasian homes.

Christin’s art reflects on the current era in Indigenous culture, focusing on the sweat lodge and carrying the traditions of old into the contemporary world. He tells the stories of indigenous heritage and the importance of preserving traditional values.

For Christin, art is a means of expressing his passionate interconnection with "the spirit of all that exists." A spiritual healer as well as an artist, he stresses the importance of traditional teachings and spiritual growth. As such, he has facilitated sweat lodges for many years. Christin emphasizes that awareness of self and one's place in the world is important for members of both Native and non-Native cultures. Perhaps paradoxically, he uses cutting edge technology to make a statement about the distinctive place of ancient Indigenous cultures in a complex, contemporary, multicultural world.

By understanding and embracing the teachings of the ancestral past, Christin seeks to preserve a way of life, document its core value, and help build a vision for our future.
