Over the last few years, we have fallen in love with the scriptures and are learning how digging into God's Word has helped us grow deeper with each other and those around us.
We want to be real about our lives, our struggles and our joys.
This is Growing Deeper.
Exodus 12a: The Lamb of God
In this episode we cover the first section of the Passover. After 61 chapters of the Torah, we finally reach our first liturgical instructions. It makes you wonder if the Torah is made to do what we’ve commonly thought (give laws) or something else (tell a story about God’s relationship with humanity). Also, this story may be the most key piece to understanding the Last Supper had with his disciples. If you don’t know this story, you’ll never know the fullness of what Jesus is doing at the meal he holds.
Exodus 11: Are WE Egypt!?
In this episode we do our best to wrestle with a really difficult chapter in scripture. Things don’t always make sense to us. Most likely, it’s because of the culture and time we are in. When things are difficult for us to grapple with in scripture, maybe that’s a flag that we need to look inward and come to grips with why it bothers us so much.
Exodus 10: Chocolate Pudding Goo Packets
Melissa and I talk more in-depth about the Hebrew words behind the “hardened” heart of Pharaoh. Also, we discuss the de-creative aspects of the narrative and how Yahweh is returning Egypt into the Genesis 1:2 state even undoing his statement of “let there be light”.
Exodus 9: Death Dust
Melissa and I go through plagues 5-7 and the patterns that have reoccurred throughout the narrative. Why do biblical authors do this? Is it just boring because they weren’t smart enough to write different things? Or is there purpose and meaning behind it?
Exodus 8: In the Bear of the Belly
In this episode we hear from Spenser his favorite scripture. In this chapter we get to see Moses start to come into his role just like Yahweh knew he could.
Exodus 7: Stanky River
This week we hear from Brianna on her favorite scripture! We also cover the first throw down between Yahweh and Pharaoh. One way or another, Pharaoh will come to know Yahweh, and he will be revealed for who he truly is.
