    Growing Through It with Schizophrenia

    Growing Through It with Abuse

    Today’s guest has always been driven to overcome the challenges he’s faced by wanting to help others. Today he shares about trauma at an early age that has had repercussions for a very long time, including suicide attempts, incarceration and homelessness. At a few different times in his young adult life, he has connected with Roots to Harvest. He’s focused on making changes and connecting to people, including his young daughter.     Growing Through It By Yourself

    In this episode we have 16 year old entrepreneur and costume designer Marshy discussing how moving abroad and back has caused a disconnect among peers in schools, creating struggles to fit in. We discuss how they've learned to manage their mental health and the ways they've explored their artistic capabilities. Now sharing their art and creations with the public, Marshy is set to continue their artistic journey with the hopes of attending OCAD university, and owning their own business.     Growing Through It with Dysphoria

    Today we hear from a 20 year old who has been through some pretty big changes in the past year.  He moved to Thunder Bay during high school and became affiliated with Roots to Harvest through the summer employment program for youth. Two years later he is still connected with the community he developed. Having recently gone through transition, he shares the story of his journey into adulthood, balancing work and family, and the dynamics of doing all of this while finding his true inner self. This episode talks about dysphoria, mental health, and coming to terms with accepting oneself.
