Fast forward nearly two years later as we discuss where Jacob is in his life journey and if he still feels like he chose the best path. I want all of you to keep in mind what was true for him back then. Jacob shared with all of us that he knew in his heart at the young age of four that he wanted to serve his country. Therefore, it probably will not come as a surprise that he would decide, without hesitation, to take the less traditional path of leaving high school during his senior year to pursue a career in the United States Army.

While in high school, Jacob was no stranger when it came to playing the team sports of football and rugby. When he wasn’t playing these two, he enjoyed the challenges and rewards of wrestling to improve his personal best. Jacob says life is pretty interesting since he comes from a large family which include 11 siblings. Jacob is a man who believes in standing tall for his country and has made the decision to enlist in the army now.

    Growing up, Byron always wanted to do something that mattered, to help other people and impact the world. But, he never really knew what that was. That was until the day his dad was diagnosed with cancer. During treatment his dad had most of his bowel surgically removed and spent 25 days in ICU on life support and breathing through a tracheostomy. This experience led to his own journey of turning his life around and learning everything he could about mindset, psychology, health and high performance, and writing a best-selling book along the way was the result. The more he dived into it, the more he found how much his success had played a role in his Dad getting sick, as at the time, he was working 14 hour days, barely sleeping, under a tremendous amount of pressure, and pushing himself to the limit.
