Rehabilitation and Revenge

The story is well produced, engaging, and thought provoking. My take away from it, however, may be different from what the producer intended. Yes, Lester apparently killed a young girl, although little detailed information about the killing is provided - Who was the victim? How and why was she murdered? What took place at Lester's trial? On the other hand, Lester's walk away from prison seems to vindicate, in a strange way, the views of the humanist prison warden who was in charge of Lester's lockdown but who championed the rehabilitation of prison inmates. For decades after Lester walked away - it seems unlikely that he is still alive - he doesn't seem to have killed anyone, robbed anyone, beaten up anyone. Indeed, Lester never seems to have ever been arrested. What little we know of him was that he was a hard worker and a surrogate father and positive role model for his girlfriend's son, who is now a successful architect. Does't all of this sound like rehabilitation? What's is actually more chilling for me than Lester still being on the loose are the the revenge-tinged comments by a number of former law enforcement personnel, who want to track Lester down and bring him back dead or alive. Frontier justice apparently isn't dead in Ohio.

Amazing

It is astonishing that this monster was allowed such a privilege to go back into the public unsupervised. The system is to blame. Law enforcement was slow to react which didn’t help. Mistakes were made and now the US Marshals are there to help bring closure to the poor family of the victim. I am sure Lester has not been a model citizen. Criminals of this nature just can’t stop what they do. Waiting for the next episode.
