The SIAC Sit Down: Thomas Howard’s Savannah State Blueprint:

On this episode of "The SIAC Sit Down", Sly The Sports Guy and Jamie Walker welcome new **Savannah State head football coach Thomas Howard** for a wide-ranging conversation about his coaching journey, his return to the SIAC and his vision for the Tigers. Howard reflects on his path from Morehouse to Allen, North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State, Alabama A&M, Fayetteville State and now Savannah State. He breaks down what made Savannah State the right fit, how he is attacking recruiting in Georgia and the surrounding region, and why community support will be central to rebuilding the program. The conversation also gets into the realities of becoming a first-time head coach, the importance of player relationships, building a winning mentality, spring football plans and the challenge of opening the season against major SIAC competition. Howard makes it clear: Savannah State wants to be fast, physical, disciplined and ready to make people “come down to Savannah and see about us.”  👉Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hbcugameday/  👉Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hbcugameday/?hl=en 👉Threads: https://www.threads.net/@hbcugameday 👉Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hbcu_gameday?lang=en 👉Twitter (X): https://twitter.com/HBCUGameday/  👉Website:  https://hbcugameday.com/    ============================= ✅  Recommended Playlists 👉 HBCU Basketball 2023-2024https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cRlYKN5dAA&list=PLf2l922yqAyU6JavURXQAYDPMLlct923L&pp=iAQB  👉 2023 Footballhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mH202Srf0g&list=PLf2l922yqAyVkVoOwl-smsV0kTzSVgD2J&pp=iAQB  ✅  Other Videos You Might Be Interested In Watching:  👉 Grambling and other HBCUs still in March Madness  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cRlYKN5dAA  👉 SWAC Basketball Semifinals: Jackson State defeats UAPB  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_rYUVVoHRM  👉 SWAC Women's Basketball: Alcorn State vs Grambling  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1-wa6q1DN8  👉 West Virginia State alumna talks culture, sports at majority white HBCU  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zek_lL6w0Lg  👉 SWAC Women's Basketball: Jackson State vs UAPB  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_yfAZNus0M  ============================= ✅  About HBCUGameday. Coach Nemo has a Conversation with Cobi

Cobi sits down with Coach Nemo Washington—Delaware State’s offensive coordinator, former Bowie State QB, and NFL Diversity Coaching Fellow with the Cleveland Browns—opens up like never before. From growing up in Atlanta and Seat Pleasant, to battling a rare brain cyst in college, to being spiritually redirected from player to coach, Nemo’s journey is one of calling, adversity, and grace. He talks about Coach Damon Wilson saving his career, how Deshaun Jackson’s staff energized DSU football, and the 65+ years of NFL experience now sitting inside the Hornets’ meeting room. We also dig into:– How DSU built its identity through “dog mentality,” detail, and resilience– His “Slide First” offensive philosophy– What makes a real “dog” on film– How NFL scouting, detail, and professionalism shape his coaching– The dual identity of Coach Washington: calm off the field, pure fire on it– Why relationships, faith, and family keep him grounded– Why HBCU coaches belong on NFL staffs—and which ones deserve a shot This is storytelling. This is vulnerability. This is HBCU football culture at its best. If you love HBCU football, MEAC storylines, Bowie State legends, or Delaware State’s rise under DeSean Jackson… this interview is a must-watch.
