Living the Resurrection Life - Easter Sunday

The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as the most pivotal event in human history, transforming a group of fearful, hiding disciples into world-changing witnesses who literally turned their culture upside down. This message challenges us to examine whether the resurrection has truly changed our lives in the same dramatic way. We're confronted with over 500 eyewitnesses who saw the risen Christ, historical evidence from non-Christian sources like Flavius Josephus, and the undeniable fact that these early believers willingly died horrific deaths rather than recant their testimony. The early church valued Jesus above everything else, making no sacrifice too great considering what He had done for them. Today, we face a different obstacle: busyness. For 1,800 years, life moved at about 10 miles per hour, but now we're racing at 100 miles per hour, filling our days with everything except the one thing that truly matters. The question becomes piercing: Are we being shaped by Jesus or by the world? What will people say about our lives when they're over? The call is clear - we must daily surrender ourselves as living sacrifices, allowing God's purposes to become our purposes, His values to become our values. Only then can we experience the transformative power that turned the early church into a movement that changed the Roman Empire itself.

The King Who Came to Save - Palm Sunday

This Palm Sunday reflection takes us through all four Gospel accounts of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, revealing a profound disconnect between human expectations and divine purpose. The crowds welcomed Jesus with palm branches and shouts of 'Hosanna,' expecting a political king who would overthrow Roman oppression. This perfectly mirrors our spiritual reality. Our names aren't written in the Book of Life in pencil, ready to be erased when we fail - they're written in the blood of Christ, permanent and secure. The message challenges us to stop digging up sins that God has cast into the deepest sea, seven miles down where nothing lives. We're called to embrace our new identity, recognizing that we're no longer slaves to sin but beloved children crying 'Abba, Father' - Papa, Daddy - to the God of the universe.

The beauty of this teaching lies in its honesty: God doesn't require perfection from us, but He does seek humble, submissive servants who consistently strive to yield to His will. Just as the potter reworked marred clay into something beautiful, God continually works to reshape us. The question we must ask ourselves is: Are we pliable enough to let Him? This isn't about earning salvation through works, but about allowing the blood of Jesus to cover our sins while we actively pursue holiness. When we become consistent, flexible, and increasingly pure vessels, imagine what God could accomplish through us and through our church communities.

Jesus, the party guy

We often think of Christianity as somber and serious, but this exploration of John chapter 2 reveals something surprising: Jesus was actually fun to be around. He attended parties, celebrated at weddings, and spent time with people society rejected. When Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding in Cana, He didn't just provide enough—He provided abundance, somewhere between 108 and 162 gallons of the finest wine. This wasn't about encouraging drunkenness; it was about showing us that God doesn't do things halfway. The religious leaders of His day couldn't win: they criticized John the Baptist for being too austere, and they criticized Jesus for being too social. This teaches us an important lesson about trying to please everyone versus following God's calling. The real question we must ask ourselves is: what does Jesus see when He looks at us? Does He see someone occasionally obedient, or someone zealously devoted to serving Him? Are we fervent in spirit, or are we lukewarm? Most importantly, do we know for certain where we'll spend eternity? Jesus made salvation simple—not through our works, which are as filthy rags, but through His finished work on the cross. We need to stop treating Jesus as an afterthought, someone we call on only when things go wrong, and instead make Him the foundation of every decision we make.

Would you follow Jesus?

This message takes us through John chapter one, where we encounter the profound moment when John the Baptist identifies Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. What's remarkable is how quickly the disciples responded—they simply heard 'Behold the Lamb of God' and immediately followed Jesus. This challenges us to examine our own response: we have the complete written Word, we know more about Jesus than those first disciples did, yet do we follow Him as readily? The message confronts our prejudices through Nathanael's question, 'Can anything good come from Nazareth?' reminding us that we all carry biases—whether based on geography, race, or background—yet God saved us when we were worthless, lost sinners. Perhaps most comforting is the revelation that Jesus sees us completely. He saw Nathanael under the fig tree before they ever met, just as He sees everything we do, even what we try to hide. Rather than being threatening, this becomes deeply reassuring when we understand that God's omniscience comes with His promise: 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' Through the story of Jacob's ladder and Joseph's trials, we're reminded that God is present in every circumstance—the good, the bad, and the seemingly catastrophic—working all things together for good for those who love Him.
