Fantastic podcast for higher Ed!

I’m using this podcast in my drugs and society class and in my race/crime/media course. Excellent topics discussions!

Anti Police narrative

This guy is anti cop. He remembers Ferguson (which was a lie), but he doesn’t remember the 5 police officers murdered in Dallas.

Great storytelling, very biased

I thought this podcast had excellent production and storytelling. The host knows how to narrate well and captivate the audience. Kudos on that end.

But this podcast falls short on telling the entire story. As one who prides themselves on getting the truth out of “Cops” they fail to honestly represent law enforcement and even the tv show they attempt to “investigate”.

In the last two episodes the host claims to have this big gotcha moment and what he calls his “Rosetta Stone”. Spoilers: it’s raw footage of one segment of cops. No, not an entire night of policing, just one stop. In it he claims that the cop supposedly planted drugs. Granted, what happened was shady but nothing incriminating or even provable. But the podcast takes it and spins it as though every episode of cops is this way and police are corrupt.

Don’t get me wrong, there are crooked police and things even in the cops tv show that should be investigated. But this podcast isn’t it. It is a very interesting look into the show but seems to me as though the end goal of finding corruption within the tv show blinded true, unbiased investigation.
