    Menorah Light (Dawn Music)

✨ ABOUT THE SHAMASH The shamash (שַׁמָּשׁ) is the helper candle used to light the menorah during Hanukkah. In Hebrew, the word means “servant,” “attendant,” or “one who ministers.” Unlike the other eight candles — which represent the eight nights — the shamash stands apart, set higher or lower on the menorah, and its whole purpose is to give its flame away. That exists to kindle lights in others. ✨ Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” He also said that He came not to be served, but to serve. And through Him, our lights are lit, so we carry His flame to others. “The Shamash” is my the theme song for an album called Menorah Lights is deeply poetic: 🔥 Christ as the servant flame🔥 The One who kindles every other light🔥 The Light that lights the light, The Shamash is a rich, Biblical, interwoven imagery — respectful to Jewish tradition and meaningful in Christian worship. WHY I WROTE THIS SONG by Dawn Ezelle At Christmas, her Auntie Elaine (Hopewell) would travel to Europe every summer. One Hanukkah at the age of 5, Elaine gifted Dawn with 8 handmade-sewn dolls representing the 8 countries across Europe. Those dolls sparked Dawn’s imagination and love for cultures. In 6-7th grade, Dawn was assign to create a special project where she drew pictures from around the world and composed music to match each one. Dawn dedicated her song, "The Shamash" to her Auntie Elaine who served as a special needs art teacher in Boston, MA. Elaine prayed for Dawn's special calling and gifts. Elaine crossed over into heaven many years ago. But Dawn always remembered the 8 handmade dolls. Those 8 seeds sown into her as a little girl. Dawn is also trained as BCV Choir, in songwriting, music reading, organ, and woodwinds—flute, bells, and bassoon. Today, Dawn blends her lifelong musical foundation with Indie, Christian, and Inspirational worship. Her music carries messages of faith, healing, love, and hope. Through worship, teaching, and creative media, she shares the truth that God’s love still transforms, heals, and restores. ISRC: QT6WN2500013 Learn more at www.dawnezelle.org
