Lipoprotein(a) Cholesterol and Disease Progression: Important New Data

Lipoprotein(a) Cholesterol and Disease Progression: Important New Data

This week, Dr. Kahn packs a lot of practical information on health and longevity into this "pea-cast." He discusses the longevity plan of Dr. Michael Roizen, a well-known physician and author, including his regular use of the Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet (www.prolonfmd.com/drkahn). Another study examines the lifestyle habits of the ultra-elderly in China, showing that it matters even at that age to adhere to healthy habits. The importance of mitral annular calcification (MAC) is also presented. Additionally, two controversial topics—cholesterol levels and mortality, as well as protein intake and kidney disease—are discussed.
The major topic is the importance of Lipoprotein(a) genetic cholesterol levels and disease progression, both in the coronary arteries and on the aortic valve. You do not want to miss this discussion of great importance for all.

Plaque Years: How Long Has Your LDL-Cholesterol Been Putting You at Risk?

Plaque Years: How Long Has Your LDL-Cholesterol Been Putting You at Risk?

Prayers for safety, healing, and peace in the USA and beyond. This week, Dr. Kahn dives into two fascinating case studies from the Kahn Center. But that's just the beginning. He also covers a range of mini-topics, including the role of CoQ10 in combating fatty liver disease, the surprising prevalence of unknown leaky valves in people over 60, and the impact of sleep apnea in younger adults (psst, you can get a home sleep study mailed to you from the Kahn Center at 248-731-7412).
Women with heart disease will find the discussion on the proper aspirin dose particularly insightful. Plus, if you're curious about weight loss options, Dr. Kahn breaks down why "Mounjaro" might be a better choice than "Ozempic" for diabetic patients.
The main topic is a groundbreaking paper by the legendary Dr. Eugene Braunwald from Harvard. He introduces the concept of "plaque years," which measures the duration and levels of LDL cholesterol in your body, akin to calculating smoking "pack years." The gist? More plaque years mean a higher risk of developing atherosclerosis. Dr. Kahn recommends getting a coronary artery calcium scan and a carotid IMT ultrasound to get a clearer picture of your heart health.

Bonus Podcast: Cleerly Health CT - A Radical Advance in Diagnosis and Treatment

In this bonus episode, Dr. Joel Kahn interviews Dr. James Min, founder and CEO of Cleerly Health.
Cleerly Health is revolutionizing heart diagnostics with their software, which analyzes coronary CT angiograms (CCTA) using AI to detect and evaluate heart plaque.
Not all plaque is equal, and Cleerly Health focuses on identifying non-calcified or "soft" plaques, which are the most dangerous and most likely to be reversible.
This cutting-edge technology has been employed hundreds of times at the Kahn Center, offering a new paradigm in heart health assessment and treatment.

Eating for the Planet: A Prescription for Life

Eating for the Planet: A Prescription for Life

Tune in to learn about the health perks of spending time in green spaces, the risks of plastics like bisphenol(A) for diabetes, and the link between psoriasis and heart disease. A recent report on multivitamins and their ineffectiveness in reducing death rates is also discussed.
The main focus is on the EAT-Lancet Planetary Health Diet, introduced in 2019. Dr. Kahn reviews new research that shows eating healthy for the planet not only lowers the risk of death during the study period but also reduces the likelihood of diseases like heart disease, cancer, and respiratory issues. Fish and TMAO: What You Need to Know

Fish and TMAO: What You Need to Know

Dr. Joel Kahn emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated during these hot summer months and suggests adding trace mineral drops to your glass or stainless steel water bottle. Get your trace minerals here.
In this week's "pea-cast," Dr. Kahn shares intriguing case studies from the Kahn Center, highlighting two common supplements for optimal health: Arterosil and Homocysteine Supreme. He also discusses a study on spirulina in patients hospitalized with Covid-19 and offers a 20% discount at EnergyBits with the code DrKahn.
The main topic revisits Dr. Kahn's appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience in 2018 (episode 1175), where he discussed TMAO content in fish. Recent data from the Cleveland Clinic shows that some fish, such as those found in fish sticks (cod and haddock) and wild-caught salmon, can be high in TMAO, raising blood levels and increasing the risk of the ill effects of high TMAO levels. Many, including Dr. Kahn and his wife, choose to avoid fish altogether.

Fit Women over 70

Hi I just listened to your podcast with Dru Pirohot today. I liked it very much but some of it was over my head. I’m 73, fit, no medications, 21.9 BMI, workout regularly, excellent blood panel BUT No I haven’t ever had a heart scan for place , etc.

Here’s my question… can you Plse address mitral valve prolapse in women my age. I’ve had it ever since 40 y/o. No issues but knowing both my parents had heart disease ( poor lifestyle…fried food, drinking, smoking ) I leap my health in check.

Comments?
