The Great Pivot: Friendship, Identity, and the Power of the "Plot Twist"

Send a text In this heartfelt and winding conversation, host Andrea reunites with old friend Lily Watson (co-host of the Co-Parenting podcast) to discuss how their lives have seismicly shifted since they last sat behind the mics together. From the "Date and Debate" days of single life in Dallas to navigating international moves, divorces, and the beautiful chaos of toddler motherhood, they explore the necessity of "politely leaving rooms" that no longer fit. The duo dives into: The Identity Evolution: Why it’s okay for your 20s-era projects and brands to end as you outgrow your old self.Being a "Villager": The vital importance of female friendships and why we must choose to be the village we all claim to need. The Motherhood Ritual: Holding onto dignity and soft boundaries for your kids even when your personal life feels like "spiritual warfare."Assuming Positive Intent: Learning to let go of control at home to find true partnership.Whether you're navigating a "second rodeo" in love or just trying to keep your "bubble safe and soft" in a loud world, this episode is a reminder that a plot twist isn't a failure—it’s just the next iteration of you. Reading List & Resources The following books and creators were highlighted as essential "survival tools" for modern motherhood: "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt: A deep dive into how the shift from "play-based" to "phone-based" childhood has impacted youth mental health.Gabrielle Blair (@DesignMom): Specifically her book "The Kids Are All Right" and her nuanced perspective on parenting with confidence in an uncertain, digital world.Tinx (@tinx): Credited with the viral insight: "Everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager," sparking the conversation on the "price of community" being inconvenience."Hello Mama" Podcast: Hosted by Andrea Hoyos, focusing on authentic stories and finding common ground."Co-Parenting" Podcast: Lily Watson’s podcast with her childhood friends, exploring the diversity of relationships that "regenerate" us.Support the show

Hello Momma: An Episode on Women's Health

Send a text Selfishly when I started this podcast, I did it for myself. I did it because I had so many questions and didn't know where to begin, I did it because I felt alone and needed community, and I did it because I love podcasting and needed to do something for myself.  Along the way I have been fortunate to not only have incredibly informative conversations but I have also met some inspiring women. Our conversations have ranged from what foods to eat to nourish our bodies after babies, how to navigate postpartum depression, to pelvic floor issues, fertility and coparenting - among  many other topics.  This episode in particular touches on Women's Health and the gamut of issues we face. We discuss PCOS, menstrual cycles, hysterectomies, the cost of motherhood & abortion ... In addition, we touch on the lack of information and guidance available.  If there is one thing I have learned especially since becoming a mom is that we don't know anything about our own health. What is considered normal, is actually not. If we don't ask, no one will tell us. If we don't speak up, no one will.  So my ask is that everyone, including the men in my family & community, listen to this episode. Inform yourself so that when you see us angry, scared, saddened and/or disappointed about how we are treated, you can better understand us. And instead of calling us dramatic or "too much" when we may be going through our cycles or navigating PPD or frustrated because we aren't feeling well and no one is giving us answers, you learn to stand by us and with us. We need you now more than ever and we simply want to be heard.  Support the show
