    Rock Gear - Hammond Organ

    The Hammond organ has been a mainstay as a rock instrument for decades. Often paired with a Leslie Cabinet to produce a unique sound. It was designed to emulate the sound of a church organ. It ended up sounding like a very cool organ. It has motorized, spinning mechanical horns (for treble) and a baffle (for bass) to physically alter pitch and volume. I remember my first exposure to this 'whirring' sound being only 20 feet from the Leslie Cabinet in 1969 at a Steppenwolf concert (Fountain Street Church, Grand Rapids, MI).
