This podcast is a must listen! As a stepmom whose husband is also 12 years older than me, I relate so much to Jamie. The way she shares her step parenting journey has been so helpful to me with my stepkids. Her content is real and I love how she normalizes what a lot of stepmoms go through. So glad you’re back!

Used to love Jamie but she’s a little different than she used to be…As most of us are but she’s made her money and she’s a lot more blunt and doesn’t seem to care too much abt those in the trenches. She’s not for everybody bc she’s never dealt with parental alienation. She won’t be able to speak to that. She can only speak to high conflict and working through drama. The problem with that is she thinks her advice covers PA as well. She doesn’t understand what it’s like when a BM takes a child from their father and absolutely refuses “visitation” and does what she wants except for collecting the child support. That has nothing to do with a stepmom but she acts as if a SM not working on herself is the issue. I could go on but she’s just not for everyone.

I had been a paying customer of Jamie‘s for a long time. I used to go to her office hours, she has helped me change my perspective on different things related to step family life but as time went on. I guess our perspectives on things changed? With her help and also the help of my therapist and the self work I put in, my step family stress is nowhere what it used to be. But I feel like Jamie’s perspective has changed over the years and I believe our views may have clashed? I know I feel like I can’t even go to her for help anymore, especially because she has now blocked me! I never was disrespectful to her or anything, but sometimes I would have a different opinion and because of that I feel like she blocked me on Instagram. I know Jamie likes to be blunt and upfront with stepmoms but I feel like her desire to be blunt may cloud her vision when it comes to giving advice. Her advice to me personally has been contradictory at times at times and I don’t even think she realized, but it’s because she’s so focused on being blunt in my opinion. Listening to this weeks episode I think I’ve put my finger on what I feel is going on with Jamie- I think underneath it all she resents stepmoms who complain about the things she herself once complained about because she resents that person she used to be. I think it’s crazy you can assume someone’s boyfriend is playing Xbox instead of trying to make money -unless that is what SM said her BF is doing. If not, how can you just minimize someone’s struggle like that? And I think it’s because she resents moms who are where she once was and she resents that person she used to be. Just because you’ve grown doesn’t mean you’re better than the next one. Idk I could be wrong but that’s what it’s giving! Anyways, it was a good run with Jamie I wish she could have been a resource for me for the length of the time I’m a stepmom- seeing my step kiddos into adulthood etc. but maybe I’m meant to find another resource. I was really looking forward to her help and advice now that my family has to go through a custody battle and CS but today is my 40th birthday and I feel now more than ever to put myself and peace first. I plan to let go and let God when it comes to this new court situation and any situation really. I have a great therapist I’ve had for years and I know she’ll help guide me through. As a now 40 year old woman (lol just saying that is wild) I’m just feeling like certain things can’t touch me anymore- or at least don’t touch me as easily. I pray BM finds the healing she needs and I pray my stepkiddos get through this time unscathed. Either way I know we will be alright ❤️

Jamie’s approach to telling it like it is is extremely effective when it comes to how we manage the stepmom dynamic. Half the time, she’s talking about something that I assumed only affected me. It’s reassuring to know other stepmoms are dealing with the same…and refreshing to hear Jamie’s take on how to manage it.
