Edie is a nationally recognized expert in talent management and the future of work. For 20 years, her practice — E. L. Goldberg & Associates — has partnered with clients in all industries ranging from the Fortune 100 to startups to design HR processes & programs. Prior, Edie was a global thought leader in the human capital practice at Towers Perrin. She serves as board chair for the SHRM Foundation, and on the Board of Advisors for three HR tech companies.

Today we talk about how HR teams power business fundamentals and innovation with Sophie Kitson, CHRO at SumoLogic since April 2022. Sophie began her career as a developer, then became a client-facing consultant at Accenture, and later moved into building, owning and leading people, talent, performance, leadership and culture at high-growth and high-performance organizations like PagerDuty, Salesforce, Mercury Interactive, and others. Immediately before SumoLogic, Sophie was an executive coach for 4 years.

Lorie Boyd began her People Ops journey in college recruiting at Oracle, and went on to hire many of the early Salesforce team after she joined them as employee #90. After managing recruiting at other companies like Deem and Zendesk, she transitioned in people leadership at startups including Kahuna and Turo Inc. — where she’s currently Chief People Officer.

In this conversation, Lorie shares the accessible lessons she’s learned along the way, ranging from how to find the best college graduates and build high-performing teams at hyper-growth companies, to grappling with what a thriving hybrid employee experience looks like… and crying for the first time during her most recent performance review.

Today, we talk to Laura MacKinnon about the nuances of transforming a global company during hyper growth, from reinventing culture to navigating rocky economic times. Laura is currently Chief People Officer at revenue intelligence platform, Clari, and has served in similar executive roles at organizations like Logitech, Opsware, Yahoo, Coupa, and SignalFx during significant periods of growth and company transition.

Meera D’Souza spent 17 years at McKesson after relocating from India. While at McKesson, she was promoted across many different departments, ranging from software implementation and product training, to customer education and leadership development. Meera then managed an offshore team at a call center, before joining a fast-growing SaaS startup in the Midwest as HRBP, which was acquired in 2021. She’s currently the VP of People at fleet operations platform Fleetio.
In this episode, we talk to Meera about what it’s like to design HR with the business lens she’s gained over time, as well as a truly equitable candidate and employee experience that bridges cultural gaps. We also chat about tips for companies going through M&A.
