High Performance Conversations with Stephen Coops

High Performance Conversations with Stephen Coops

Steve battled with depression for years.

He wasn't the father he wanted to be, he wasn't the partner he wanted to be, he wasn't in the shape he wanted to be in and

he certainly wasn't where he thought he be at that point in his life.

Steve struggled with suicidal thoughts and reached a point where it almost got too much.

Like many of us guys, Steve used to think that his problems were special and that nobody understood him, so he refused to get help.

Until he reached out to work with my team

    And I'm glad he did

Fast forward nine months of working with our crew... he’s in the best place he’s ever been.

His relationships have improved, his bakery business is killing it, he’s looking savage, and he's finally the father/partner he's always wanted to be.

Steve credits this to stepping up despite all the bulls*it reasons he’s told himself in the past.

I’ve met a lot of blokes who’ve been in a rut like Steve’s, but he’s got a really cool perspective on mindset and the development of human beings that I really feel everyone ought to hear.

Hit the play button now because this is pretty enlightening stuff.

    Highlights:
The bullsh*t ideas we should stop telling ourselves [00:59]
Understanding the definition of ego [03:10]
Learning to pick ourselves up when the trials come again [05:59]
The negative effects of growing up from a broken family [08:09]
Drawbacks of refusing to seek for help [10:08]
Everything start to look up when we start owning up  [14:01]
We are not our mistakes but we can learn from them [18:39]
Why we make bullsh*t promises to ourselves [21:09]
Why unreasonable pressure will help you break out of a rut  [25:34]
    Steve’s past life as a pastor  [29:02]
There’s no such thing as failure, only feedback [36:40]
Why going with the flow leads us to our purpose  [40:37]
     Reach out to Stephen [49:21]

Episode 07: High Performance Conversations with Jayme Richardson

Episode 07: High Performance Conversations with Jayme Richardson

Jayme Richardson was banged up from so many injuries that he was living in chronic pain.

After getting bad advice from a physio about his shoulder pain, he realized that most follow a common approach for pain management that doesn’t go skin deep.

Many also let their personal bias towards lifting and training influence how they treat a client...

And overlook triggering factors such as daily habits, well-being, mindset, and just focus on preventing clients from freaking out.

This inspired Jayme to find a better way to deal with pain for himself and for his clients at his fitness consulting business in Newcastle.

Jayme’s approach is to find the real root cause of their client’s problems and work their way up from there so that they can live happy and pain-free lifestyles.

I identify with Jayme because we’re both big on good daily habits, accountability as coaches, and the importance of getting help.

We've touched on so many points on the topic of pain management in this episode.

If this is what you’re currently going through...

Hit the play button now because this might be something that could help you out.

    Highlights:
    A problematic shoulder [01:01]
Sometimes a degree is not always enough [02:35]
    Discovering the wrong diagnosis [05:36]
The connection between mental and physical state [07:44]
The effect of physical chronic pain on our personal relationships [12:44]
How to tell if you’re getting the right diagnosis and treatment [15:34]
Dry needling-- yay or nay? [18:24]
Managing clients dealing with pain [20:54]
Why you shouldn’t overlook strengthening the hip flexors [24:28]
Jayme Richardson on reaching out to the program [27:38]
Effects of cutting gluten and dairy [31:49]
Choosing foods that agree with you and thoughts on calorie counting [34:14]
Accountability is an underestimated part of coaching [38:38]
You train what you pay for [41:07]

The Daily Dose 06: Do You Want More Respect?

The Daily Dose 06: Do You Want More Respect?

Do you feel some people don’t treat you with the respect that you deserve?

The people in your life who don’t appreciate you, take advantage of you, or just don’t treat you the way you’d like to be treated.

Growing up we’re taught to be nice.  We’re taught to let it go when people sh*t on us.

We’re told to keep in our feelings of anger and try to convince ourselves that it’s not too bad.

But if we don’t stand up for ourselves when people do, we’ll never get the respect that we deserve.

If we want to live happier lives, improve relationships, and get the respect we deserve--  then we need to change the way we deal with others.

I’ll break down exactly what you need to do when you click on the link for the full episode here.
