High-Tech Sunday will be a one-hour conversational style program where alumni would engage and inform the audience about professional development utilizing spiritual philosophies. Weekly discussions will be focused around topics like professional development, science and technology, workforce and family balance, ethics, and respect for others. Stemming from each of these five principles, the weekly events will focus on discussing and analyzing the societal problems at the intersection of technology and culture through a lens informed by spiritual philosophies.

On today’s episode of High-Tech Sunday, our hosts, Dr. Mark Vaughn and Lango Deen sit down with Director of NASA's Langley Research Center, Clatyon Turner, for a conversation on Filling the World with “I Can’s". As Director, Turner leads a diverse group of civil servant and contractor scientists, researchers, engineers and support staff, who work to make revolutionary improvements to aviation, expand understanding of Earth’s atmosphere, develop new technologies for space exploration, and contriute to NASA’s broader exploration mission. Through his career, Turner has worked on many projects for the Agency including Earth observing technology development, materials technology development, and the Space Shuttle Program Return-to-Flight, just to name a few. Mitchell Legacy awardee, Usang Ekpe, for a conversation on Advancing Communication.  Currently serving as a Tier 2/3 tecnical expert and trainer for mobility provisioning engineers responsible for Nokia hardware and software, Ekpe’s role includes working on emerging technologies in conjunction with AT&T Labs, third-party vendors, and multiple internal teams to design and test new technology concepts. Usang is not only an excellent member of AT&T, but to his community as well, by volunteering his skills and tutoring at-risk youth. He was responsible for the core Boeing Commercial Airplanes Engineering organization and was the Engineering skill leader in Southern California for the team designing and developing commercial airplane programs. In his Boeing Global Services role, June led the team supporting the conversion of airplanes in the Boeing commercial fleet to cargo configurations. Less than a year later, LaTasha was one of fifteen engineers throughout Lockheed Martin Space to participate in the Engineering Leadership Development Program. Starr has embraced challenges with technical excellence, taking on the responsibility of designing, testing, and validating solar telescopes to monitor the sun’s activity. CDR Walker has served on USS BATAAN, where he received the Humanitarian Service Medal after support of Hurricane Katrina humantarian assistance and disaster relief. Later, the Commander served on USS CARL VINSON, where he excelled at anticipating problem areas in management of 26 assessable chemical and radiological programs. Ashore, CDR Walker served as a Nuclear Programs Manager, Section Head for Amphibious Warfare In-Service Readiness, and most recently, the Executive Assistant to Commander, Second Fleet / Commander, Joint Forces Command Norfolk. CDR Walker has received numerous recognition awards, such as the NNOA CAPT Sallee Kafer Mentoring Award in 2017 and NNOA Doris Miller Award in 2018 for his efforts in improving the connection between accession, retention and mentorship of Naval Officers. In addition, Smith belongs to organizations such as the American Gas Association, Midwest Energy Association, and the National Society of Black Engineers, just to name a few. Frenae takes the time to volunteer with the Engineering Society of Detroit with Future Cities and the Engineering & Technology Job Fair.
