    Hope in Suffering

Send us Fan Mail Summary In this episode of Higher Ground, Martin Watjen and Brian Hough delve into the profound meaning behind Jesus's cry on the cross, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?" It explores how this moment, rooted in Psalm 22, reveals a deeper divine plan for salvation and offers hope amidst suffering. The discussion highlights how Jesus's words serve as a prophetic bridge between His suffering and our redemption, emphasizing the transformative power of love and sacrifice. Notes The psalms provide a beautiful glimpse into the heart of Christ, as He quotes them many times particularly in His final moments on the Cross. From the Cross, Jesus' quotes reveal how His Passion was prophesized in the Scriptures.Though it seemingly starts out  bleak, there is hope at the end of Psalm 22.Many times in the moment, we are short-sighted in our perspective; but, God sees the full picture and knows how it all fits into His will.God the Father did not make His Son suffer, we did; but Jesus accepted the suffering willingly out of love for us.Jesus' extreme sufferings show the magnitude of our sin.Jesus experienced everything we did to the ultimate degree... He fully understands us.Justice must occur to atone for any injustice.Jesus is willing to go to the greatest extreme to save us out of Love. The devil threw everything he could at Jesus but still lost. The death of Jesus turned suffering "inside out", ie., we can now offer up our sufferings in union with Jesus to bring about a greater good.Knowing the Glory that came forth from Jesus' Passion, it gives us hope in that goodness can come forth from our challenges. The "Footprints" poem shows that the Lord is always there for us, particularly in our sufferings when He carries us.Jesus' redemption of mankind assures that man no longer needs to be alone.
