Potential, Purpose, and Possibility with Dr. Alan Briskin

Potential, Purpose, and Possibility with Dr. Alan Briskin

This is POTENTIAL, PURPOSE AND POSSIBILITY, featuring Dr. Alan Briskin. Experience a deep resonance with an important topic: what it means to have a soul. According to Dr. Alan Briskin: ‘the qualities that come to mind when we think of soul - meaning, memory, wildness, beauty, divinity - are all necessary elements for navigating organizations into the future.’ On this show, we’re talking about psychological safety, collective wisdom, and how to live your life with purpose and with-ness.
Dr. Alan Briskin is the co-founder of the Collective Wisdom Initiative, and a consultant, artist, and researcher. His ground-breaking book, The Stirring of Soul in the Workplace, written in the mid 1990’s, foreshadowed the growing need in business organizations for purpose, meaning, and practical wisdom. His interests in archetypal psychology, wisdom traditions, and the unconscious life of groups has led him on a unique journey, personally and professionally.  Having studied depth psychology and the history of social institutions including prisons, mental asylums, and public schools, Dr. Briskin turned his attention to the workplace and the history of management theories and practice. As an organizational consultant, focusing on health care and education, he became fascinated with the courage, resilience, and challenges his colleagues and clients encounter on a daily basis. In all his work, there is an affirmation of the principle of genuine human encounter, a belief mirrored in the words of Martin Buber – that all real living is meeting.

Water cooler conversations with Eric Ryan

Water cooler conversations with Eric Ryan

This is WATER COOLER CONVERSATIONS, a compilation of opinions about work - including so-called ‘LinkedIn for dating’, intimacy with coworkers, and pop culture hot topics. What is appropriate to talk about at work, and what are the benefits of saying how we feel, when we feel it? Is transparency a good thing, and should we ever consider those we work with our ‘real friends’? In a time where our electronic devices listen to our conversations, record keystrokes, and store our opinions about products, events, and society, it’s important to contemplate freedom of speech, and the significance of truth telling in an age of misinformation. On this show we’re talking about the truth - and how to draw the boundary between professional and private existence.
Our conversation opens with the controversial topic of ‘LinkedIn for Dating’, highlighting the differential norms of each generation’s communication styles online, especially on social media. We also discuss the implications of ‘cancel culture’ and whether or not it’s a good idea to be fully authentic at work.
This episode contains offensively creative language and some content that may be deemed inappropriate for younger audiences. Please use your discretion before moving forward. If you are someone that is easily offended; we recommend that you change the channel.

True wealth and financial advice in hip hop music with Stewart Heath

We all receive unsolicited money advice from TV shows and movies, commercials and the music we listen to. But true financial education is about much more than numbers - it’s about the people you want to invest in, and how you want to spend your time and effort.
This is hip hop finance, an excerpt from episode 3 of the Hire Intelligence podcast with Stewart Heath. In this conversation, we compile insights from hip hop heavyweights, contemplating financial decision making and advice.
