A Hero Among Us – Bryan Blackmon’s Story, Part 2

Please CHECK OUT Part 1 of Bryan Blackmon's interview if you haven't done so already.  In this episode, Nadia engages in a deeply intimate conversation with the HERO AMONG US, Bryan Blackmon. This is not your typical Q & A chat. Bryan allows himself to courageously explore the deep inner truths that drove his life into addiction, crime, and nearly losing his life in Texas to a transformed and purposeful life in California.  What unfolds is not just a story of recovery—but one of unexpected grace, resilience, and connection. Bryan opens up about the exact moments he began listening to his soul's voice, connecting to the heart space, and when "something beyond" inspired a solid belief within that he deserved to live a healthy and thriving life. He expands on the gifts of presence, clarity, and authentic human connection received as a result of sobriety and spiritual awakening.  What began as a second chance quietly grew into something much bigger—today, Bryan is a TikTok voice of hope, inspiring thousands with his heart, courage, and vulnerability. Heroes don’t always wear capes. Often, they’re the ones who choose to own up, keep going, rebuild, and uplift others —one day at a time. Whether you’re on your own recovery journey or simply need a story that restores your faith in people, this conversation will stay with you. Because sometimes, the most extraordinary lives are lived by “ordinary” people who refuse to give up. When Love Hurts: Caregiving, Anger, & Coming Home to Yourself

What does it really mean to love… when it hurts? In this deeply personal episode, I share the raw and honest reality of caring for my 90 year old mother and her ailing conditions and cognitive deficits —what it asks of me as a daughter, a mother, and a woman trying to hold it all together. This is a conversation about sacrifice…about anger…about the grief of watching someone you love slip away—and the guilt of not always having enough left for your children… or yourself. But it’s also about something deeper.About learning to sit with the fears that rise—fear of losing love, fear of not being enough—and discovering how those very fears can guide us back into the heart.Through this journey, I’ve begun to find what I call a Home Within—a space of stillness, presence, and deep inner listening that allows me to soften, to breathe, and to meet both myself and my mother with more compassion. If you are a caregiver, a daughter, a son, or someone walking alongside a loved one in a difficult season… this episode is for you.Not for answers—but for comfort, understanding, and the reminder that you are not alone. In this episode:• The emotional reality of caregiving for a parent (dementia, Alzheimers, or not) • Navigating anger, guilt, and physical exhaustion• Witnessing your own patterns through caregiving• Finding presence through and with your children in the midst of pain• Creating a “Home Within” through stillness and self-awareness* If this episode speaks to your heart, consider sharing it with someone who may need a moment of understanding and support. This Too Shall Pass

Circumstances change. Seasons of life rise and fall. And sometimes when we’re in the middle of challenging times, or a painful moment, it can feel like it will never pass. This episode is a gentle reminder of the truth of impermanence—that whatever you are facing right now is not the whole story of who you are, and it will not last forever. When our minds are loud with fear, shame, or despair, they can convince us that something is wrong with us—that we are broken. But the deeper truth is that beneath the noise of the mind, your core self remains whole, divine, and complete. Nothing that is happening in your circumstances can take that away.In this episode, I share reflections on caring for ourselves during difficult seasons and remembering our inherent worth even when life feels uncertain. It’s an invitation to pause, nurture yourself, and soften toward whatever you are experiencing.I also reflect on teachings from Eckhart Tolle about not overvaluing our circumstances, and the wisdom he offers: “Beyond happiness and unhappiness there is peace.” When we stop attaching our identity to what is happening around us, we reconnect with the quiet steadiness that lives within. These teachings remind me of my father's favorite saying: This Too Shall Pass. To him this meant that, In times of prosperity, we remain humble, and In times of despair, to have and feed hope.If you are going through a difficult chapter right now, this episode is for you. A reminder that circumstances pass, that you are not broken, and that peace is always closer than the mind would have us believe. This week, let’s practice not overvaluing our circumstances—and instead remembering who we truly are beneath them. #thistooshallpass #eckharttolle #hope #impermanence #yourworthit  FREE BAN SHAME TIP SHEET EMPOWER YOUR RECOVERY YOGA (FREE for Parents in Recovery) GIVE BACK FOLLOW Learn more about your ad choices.
