Hooray for Anime is an anime reactionary podcast. Some of us are veterans to the genre, and others are just dipping our toes into it but nevertheless, this show is meant to be a celebration of all things good, bad, and just plain weird in all things anime. Each episode, podcast host Chris Shriver (@SHRIVES93) alongside a few guests watch an anime movie/series or part of a series, and give their impressions of it. In each episode, we give a brief synopsis, have a spoiler-free review, let you know where you can find the content, and then if you're already familiar, you can stick around for the deep-dive into spoiler-filled territory. If you have any suggestions for an anime series/movie you'd like for us to watch and discuss, feel free to tweet at us @hoorayforanime or shoot an email to hoorayforanimepodcast@gmail.com.

YAY, ANIME!

I freaking love anime, and I was surprised at the depth these guys brought to it. I learned a lot from this episode. Here’s to many more!

Fantastic!!

I really enjoyed Josh's take on the movie as well as the multiple historical tie ins that he made. It was cool listening about how many real life events in Japan's history had an impact on the creators when they made this movie, prompting them to link the storyline to those events. I also thought it was interesting to discover that Akira was the mother of many tropes, like the motorcycle slide.

Thank you for sharing your insightful views on this classic work of art! Can't wait to hear more!
